Photographers get in FREE

"They" are restoring an old abandoned school near my house. So yesterday I went up and was taking some pictures and had the chance to talk with one of the construction workers. They really enjoy talking about their work and after a while I asked if it would be possible to take some photos inside. Since they were closing the job up for the day he said try back tomorrow. So today I went down in the morning with coffee and donuts for em and talked to the project manager. He gave me a tour of the whole place and said I could go anywhere I wanted, so long as I promised him a set of the prints after since he was really interested to have some before and after shots. They might even get used the paper to promote donations for the restoration. It was really great hearing about the whole place and I got a free pass to go around this 100 year old building.

That being said, never under estimate the power of just being up front. Most people in the construction field really like there work and want to share it with others. I wonder if this would work else where??

Thanks a lot man. The photos from the school shoot should be up soon. I thought the ones I took today sucked, but now that I'm looking at them I think I'm going to use them in a gallery. Maybe this school will be the first with 2 galleries.

I found an pair of old mills today. An older guy owns one of them an is renovating it in his spare time.

He told me I was more than welcome to hang out there and take pictures as long as he was on the property. Which is cool, because my batteries were dead when I got there.

I'm going back tomorrow with coffee, donuts and maybe something for dog and cats.

I like that idea, it's not dangerous and truthful. Asking; what a brilliant idea!

I am a Student Photographer, and it is sometimes suprising the corporation and help you will get with a impressive looking camera. Try to complement peoples land/them. flattery works. Most likely you will be given full access to a site and they might even help you and or give you a tour.

Just remember the more useless photo equipment you have hanging off you the more pro you look.

That's got to be the most interesting concept I think I've ever heard in UE.

Maybe I'll break down and try that sometime, rather than the conventional trespassing.
