| | | They are old mining tunnels. I can give you quite specific directions, I am a mountain biker and so I can get to tunnels that are way the #uc// out there. Many of the tunnels were abandoned at a time when the cars were switching from one technology to another so alot of it is still down inside. drill bits that fit specific chuck styles, hydraulic tools that are considered obsolete in todays world, some of the light tracking is still embeded into the tunnels. If you give me an email I can send alot, I did not go into any of the tunnels cause I had no one to go with and was scared. I don't know how to post from my email to this forum. I expect to be going back sometime this summer, and will send pictures, from inside the tunnels. 2 of the tunnels are acessable to whoever knows that they are there. The others require a bit of effort.

| | | All the accessable tunnels are not on Red mountain. One is Kinda south of Deer Park, (well there are two there but I presume that they merge into one because they are so close, One is under the rail grade that is ripped up, and one not going to be disclosed on the net. Are you currently in the area? The old monoblium (sp?) plant on the top of the ski hill is cool to explore too. A+O

| | | For the record if you ever get the chance to head to the Cranbrook area there are a lot of old tunnels, and mines out there as well. Same with silverton, Sandon, Kerameos, etc... just look for the massive pile of waste rock (tailings?) and walking the old train track lines can be pretty cool as well. There are even places in where a tunnel goes under the area that was at one point the main line of the railroad in Rossland. So much to explore, so little time. A+O
