| | | Yeah... I'd say crappy. Brighten up a bit. Expose longer. Add contrast. Gray = bad.

Way to be worthless. The first one is gonna be a difficult shot to pull off with that harsh backlight. Try shooting the subject from a different angle, trying to avoid the direct light if you can.

| | | I think it is funny that that tunnel has already made two appearances on this board already. I never really saw it as photogenic. Anyway, perhaps some artificial lighting in the tunnel. The shadows are too dark, and you lose every bit of detail. It is essentially a black photo. Beside the supplementary lighting, try two exposures and PS layering them.

Eh, neither did I. Until I accidentally took a photo of it.

| | | Nice effort. But you need a tripod for the last as well as better metering and/or composition. The first one looks a little photoshopped and therefor tacky. Keep trying.

Very constructive response . Both of them could use different angles. I like how you got the light reflecting on the tracks on the 2nd one. The second one could also be much better with greater contrast between the dark of the tunnel and the light of the open area in the back and the light in the foreground. It would also be interesting to see the entrance of the tunnel(its kinda cut off ).

| | | my unqualified opinion is the first looks over processed the second is underexposed and not enough depth however the curve in the tunnel could be made photogenic though so composition is not bad technique needs improvement

| | | Whether or not the second one is underexposed is a matter of opinion. A nice, simple crop could possibly help more than a longer shutter in this case. I like the fact that the environment on the other side is exposed close to how it should be, and the minimal light it throws back into the tunnel is just enough to toss a little reflection the steel of the rails. I'm thinking maybe a crop and a slight increase in contrast, but hey, that's just my opinion. The first one is indeed underexposed, though. Longer shutter times in such low light conditions can cause blurry images due to camera shake, so I'd recommend in investing in a tripod of some sort and seeing what you can do from there. Nothing fancy, even a $15-20 unit from wallyword will work for long enough to learn the basics.

| | | Through proper composition, the underexposure in the second picture could work. The only problem: the distracting gray on the bottom left hand corner. Therefore, by aiming your shots right and exposing them correctly, along with some post processing, you could end up with something like this:

You just gotta love Maggie and her sunshine outlook on life
I like the second one myself, I think you could throw it in an editing program, up the brightness and saturation. and a touch of sharpness. Thats just my opinion, and I have no formal training

| | | The second feels like it could use a tiny rotate ccw. I like the composition, including the grey on the walls, but shooting with a tripod would make it sharper. The tracks look good there, too. Honestly, though, Louie had some great edits going with his repost... I'd try to move in that direction.

| | | Good try; For the first one, what strikes me the most is the composition. I am going to assume that the subject of the picture is the film reels. I find the picture cluttered and that really draws attention away from your subject. This can be remedied through cropping to take out anything that draws attention away from the subject, or through focusing with a narrow depth of field. This causes a "blur" effect so that things in front and behind your subject are not in focus and thus not as distracting. I'm not sure if you did any digital alterations to this picture or not, however it appears that you did. I'm guessing that you did not. The reason why the image looks processed is that there appears (my guess) to be an artificial light source. The window suggests that the picture was taken on a hazy day or at sunset so there is the sunlight has yellow and red hues. On parts of the picture closer to the camera the lighting has a blue hue, which is the cause of some of the fake-ness. I'm going to take a wild stab here and say that you took this picture with your flash on. If I'm right about the flash, that is why the picture looks fake and altered. I would recommend turning off your flash in most settings where you absolutely do not need to use it. I hate flash, and have rarely used mine so be warned - I am a bit biased.

| | | both photo seem very shaky, try using a tripod. the composition isn't to great on the first photo. the second one is a little bit better. both photos are a little under exposed.
