| | | Hahah. Great Tools. I bought some handclaws and footspikes about a year ago and did some decent tree climbing with them. They really aren't that usefull however. I find they only got in my way when I didnt need them. Just get yourself a nice pair of Tabi boots and use those fingers ;D

| | | Hey moe. In forums like these only post replies to things that are related to the title. Maybe we can get past that barb wire fence with handclaws though... ...Or do they sell handclaws for liftnig manholes? -CMB

| | | Hand claws and footspikes really only serve well when climbing wooden structures or trees. I don't think they would be very helpful when trying to lift manholes covers however. The handclaw set I purchased online had steel handles that went around your hands and were quite uncomfortable if you didn't wear some gloves/padding on the back of your hands. I had the thought of cutting the metal handles and fitting them with some custom leather backings or something to fit the contour of my hands better. Not sure when i'll get around to that however...
EDIT: And if you want Tabi Boots, get the better quality ones with the metal tabs for enclosures versus the crappy velcro ones. [last edit 11/28/2005 2:24 AM by cringe - edited 1 times]

Because some people don't have the I.Q. to realize that things such as hand claws don't pertain to a certain geographical region. For some reason, the mods seem to have missed this.

| | | Huh, what the hell is going on here? Anyways, I found that spurs and claws are quite annoying, I prefer to use my calloused hands and feet.

| | | one could always get a pair of climbing shoes (i'd recommend sliplasted instead of boardlasted). of course, You can't really walk with them on, but they basically turn your feet into another pair of hands.

I saw someone opening a man hole upside down but I don't remember on which website. The guy attached hiself on one of the metal bar of the ladder, went upside down and pushed with his feet. [last edit 9/4/2006 3:49 AM by Fearo - edited 1 times]

| | | You could get surfing booties. These things are absolutely AWESOME. They're meant to keep your feet warm in even the coldest water, have really good grip for obvious reasons, and are pretty cheap, about 60 aussie bucks for a decent pair. The only gripe i'd have with them is that when summer comes the deck feels all slippery because you're used to the things, but I don't really think that affects UE.

those would be boardlasted. sliplasted are like tight, rubbery socks.
