AVE...

There is a way to disable motion detectors/alarm systems/digital locks for a short time by using EMP/HERF generators. These devices won't cause damage on the installation, but will disable it till next restart. It works because High Frequency Radio Wave inducts a power flow in any conductor at the same time and polarize every circuit. There is a chance that impulse will trigger alarm instead of disabling it...

For more info:

The damage is not predictable or limited to just one system and in the US that "tool" would be viewed as a terrorist device; real bad idea.

Hi guys,

I want to bring up a few facts, I haven't read this entire thread yet though. Sorry if I am repeating. I do have experience in the security industry, and can tell you this much for sure.

http://www.totse.c...chanics171383.html

1. While the above page has some interesting ideas, I can tell you, these will *not* work, some of the information and assumptions he makes are wrong or not applicable to most PIR's. These flaws insure the ideas presented will not work.

2. As said by one poster, many commercial motion detectors have microwave technology. A few things about these are: Often (but not always), they are on the ceiling. Their line of site, regardless of location is not blocked by most materials including wood, gyprock, glass, cloth, etc.

3. Some security systems are stand alone (not monitored). Most security systems are monitored. It is either by A) Land line phone connection Analog cellular device C) Digital GPRS device D) IP Network connection E) A mix of A and any of B through D. While your home system *may* have a 45 second dialing delay, the standard is 15 seconds MAX, 0 is recommended.

4. If you open the cover of (almost) any security device, that will send a tamper signal which occurs when a switch opens, that is held closed by the part your moving. Additionally, loss of AC power, or battery power, or loss of signal from any device will also send a signal to the monitoring station. Someone will be called if the system is monitored, to check the site. Additionally, if, as mentioned in an earlier post, you run through really fast and set all the motion detectors off, every motion you set off will generate an alarm signal. The general standard is, if there are two or more alarm signals, Police are dispatched.

My personal choices would be

A) Dont risk the infil.
If your reasonably sure there is no communication, do so at your own risk, but remember, there is a siren that probably puts out 100+ dB. Did you remember to put Earplugs in your kit?

Also one note: All (professionally installed) security systems have a smoke detector attached, at least in Canada. Tampering with a smoke detector or the system it is connected to is a FEDERAL offense in Canada.

Many thanks.

Here's a thought. Repeatedly cut power to the thing over the course of a day. Eventually people will get tired of coming out and searching the whole building. Just be really quiet and hide when someone shows up. Wait for them to leave, cut power and repeat. You'll obviously need to be able to cut the power without setting off the alarm, maybe an outside man could do it.

Here's a long story about how this might work if you were smart even though it didn't work for some dumb kids:

Something like this happened when we infiltrated our high school BITD, although we were ultimately caught. A door to the school was left open and other people had been in the school setting off silent alarms and causing the police to show up. The intruders would leave upon hearing footsteps and the police would leave after not finding anyone. Enter my friends and I. We found the door unlocked and entered. After walking around for a while and setting off the silent alarms (we didn't even think about alarms), we opened the double library doors with the old pull really hard method and went in. We didn't realize it, but the 5.0 showed up and did a very quick cursory search of the building and, finding nobody, left. We spent some time going through the librarians desk, opening the copy machine and taking some change (I know, I know) and looking at the old sports illustrated swim suit issues and left the library, setting off the alarms again. This time, we entered the administration offices with a credit card and played with the PA and went through the principals things. The same thing happened. Finally, we left the offices and hit the cafeteria, sliding around on trays, playing with the food carts and buying and making messes with food from the vending machines purchased with library copy machine money. This time we stayed in the open too long and the cops showed up and caught us in the middle of our shenanigans. We booked it, my stupid friends went the wrong way and got pinched while I made my escape. Unfortunately, my friends mom ratted me out and we all had to spend 25 hours at the YMCA goofing off by court order. Ahhh, the good old days.

This timeline was pieced together by us from intel the arresting officers divulged, they gave is all the info we needed to be successful on the next attempt though we never tried.

I think that whole story has taught me more NOT to cut the power repeatedly, than to try it.

Well, that's how it worked out for us but only because we had no idea what the hell was going on. We didn't know we were setting off alarms or that the cops had been showing up all day. Had we realized what was going on, we probably could have avoided the whole community service part.

Always remember, just because you can see one detector doesn't mean there isn't another not far from it looking at that detector. In the TAMU Steam Tunnels we tried the Mythbuster's idea of glass over the detector. This detector was on the right wall in the tunnel right as you entered a basement of a building. After successfully placing the glass without hearing an alarm, thinking we were in, two campus police officers met us. They quickly congratulated us on bypassing one detector, but pointed out that there was another directly across on the wall, one above us looking straight down the tunnel, and also one of those laser things similar to the ones that stop the garage door from coming down on you. Moral of the story, don't get tunnel vision and think you've found the only detector in the room. That tunnel is completely impassible there, no getting through the detectors. The officers were pretty friendly after we told them we are both steam fitters (true) and have worked in similar conditions, and that we were just taking pictures and admiring the architecture. Somehow they forgot that we were trying to bypass an alarm system to get in a smelly old basement.

I just ran into motion sensors in this place

http://video.googl...652406076362954225

Lucky for me it was in the last room I went into, as I turned around in a dark room I noticed a red light high on the wall, and upon closer inspection low and behold it was an active motion sensor, not with the normal green blinking light, but a red solid light. The only thing I had going for me was that this place was a ways from any "normal" police patrol area. I did not want to raise suspicion so I casually walked out of the building and back to my car. There was no way to tell if the alarm was hooked up to a service or not, it was a little nerve racking just the same.

Motion detector is my middle name.
I made a device that is the size of a pack of gum and hook up to an old cell phone I found laying around. It picks up signals and can detect where the motion detectors are, showing me on the cell phone's screen. and the whole thing cost about 20 bucks in parts.

That will work.
But how MOST detectors work, is that theyre are 2 units (the detector boxes) and they send a signal with a code to the other box. Only 2 boxes carry the same code, and when you put the glass in front of the detector, the glass reflects and goes to the box you put the glass over. So the reason it went off is because its tricky when you have to take the glass and make sure the beam is dead center. Cause if it's not, then the box cant get the code. I hope I helped.

Um...
If you read that, then you would see that the reason it didn't work for them is because another detector saw them.

I might just have to call shenanigans. sounds way too far fetched that it shows you on the screen, meaning you changed the phones(that you found lying around) software. Hope you prove me wrong though

My cell phone (Ericsson T39m) after some modifications can open any electronic lock, disable any alarm, find gold and diamonds in the ground, stop bullets, give access to all bank accounts and even bend reality and make me invisible. And modification parts cost 2 dollars...
