Wanting to spark some interest in this location while its still around.

The ammunition depots bunkers were built around 1945 for the Royal canadian navy. This one location housed 22 bunkers ranging in size from 600 sq. ft. to almost 4,000. holding an average of 80,000 pounds of explosives untill it was closed just be for the 70's. Most are still in use as storage for the city of kamloops as they are very solid construction. All bunkers were constructed from 8” x 16” concrete blocks inside an earth berm, 10 foot x 13 foot x 2 inch thick steel door and thick steal blast doors cover the few windows. Most have 2-3 vents on the roof which look to be new additions since they have been reconditioned.

Main thing that has sparked my interest back to this site was this http://www.city.ka...s/2005/bunkers.pdf

2 bunkers are set to be removed and another 2 redone and secured. as far as i have been able to tell the south most bunker and north west most are set to be removed were as the 2 just north of the southern bunker are to be redone.

I would be a shame to have them torn down or locked up with out getting some pics first. :)

I have collected a fair bit of info on the bunkers and have found a few entry points but there are to many hazards in the area. PCB's, asbestos and a host of other junk, that are real concerns that I dont have the gear for at the min.

If any one is interested in this location or has any other info they would like to add just post or contact me and Ill be happy to post more info.

Bellow is the south most bunker pics taken today.

You can see how the door is sealed by black top, ho well its not the only way in :)

I would guess this building supplied the steam to heat the bunkers and may have an tunnel to the bunker to the north, as one bunker I was in had a thick blast door on the floor which opened to a partly filled in crawl tunnel holding the steam pipes and electrical.

They have already started there work on the bunkers I would guess 2-3 weeks untill they are gone.

Besafe and good luck.
