*Takes a Bow* Thought I would post a hello to the many other BC explorers who visit the forums. After over 2 years of reading them and using the location data base, just felt it was time to introduce my self and thank the forum admins for a job well done. *Waves to the handful of other Kamloops explorers.*

Best of luck on all your explorations!

Hello Loopies! I hear ya got lot of trains up there! NIICCEE!

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

Hi Kamloopsians... I used to live up that way for several years. A couple intersting spots I remember are the old navy bunkers behind what is now the TRU campus...and the bunkers and buildings of the old Rayleigh correctional facility, there were several bunkers used for a variety of storage uses...and barns...and the old dormitories should be still there. I am not sure about security these days, but it has been closed for a few years now. Another spot, but very very high risk....no kidding, expert only...the old Planet Mine up at Stump Lake between Kamloops and Merritt. The mine is bulldozed closed at the front...but the last time I was there, the former adit into the mine has a hole about two or three feet that enters into the mine proper. Someone skinny enough can wriggle right through...but beware...the bottom parts of the mine are flooded...and there are vertical shafts not too far into it that go down several hundred feet...of cold dark water...there is another access, on the top of the ridge behind the entrance is an old 'town site' where the mine staff used to live, badly eathered, but still there...and further back along the ridge are air shafts that used to ventilate the mine....they have barred metal grates over the top and iron runged ladders that descend into the mine. Beware this is not for the clumsy or uncautious. Also, there are safer areas at the old Craigmont Mine outside Merritt to explore, old buildings and a huge old pit...up the road a few miles a gravel road cuts off to the right and there is an old adit carved into the rock, with a collapsed mine across from it. This is mining country and there are old mines dug into the hillsides all over the place. Then there is also the back part of the old Highmont Mine, now part of Highland Valley Copper...I worked on it in the 80's and there was a large numbers of buildings. I know that the equipment was removed...but some of it may remain. There is a road into the site from left of the Highland Valley main entrance...but a better route is to take the gravel roads off of to the left side of the highway heading towards the mine from Logan Lake....you can wend your way up to the old Highmont tailings pond...where there is a 100 foot or so adit carved into the rock and old roads that take the back country route to the main mine site.
