Best breathers ever!

If you are looking for a good mask for air hazards then am i the person to talk to. I just go my brand new mask from the quarter master. I don't have my camera with me but I will post a picture later. Anyhow, it is a brand new 'C4 gas mask' and it comes with the new and improved 'C7 air hazard filter on it.' Which will protect against any particles in the air, aswell as nuclear radiation! (got to love the cdn. govt. to think about these things eh?) Anyway I don't know how much these cost on the street, but I think that they are around 180 bucks for the mask and another 40 for the filter. If you don't want to pay that amount of cash, you could join cdn forces reserves, and you will get one there (that's what I did.)

Yes they do, I forget what they are made with, some rubber with some sort of charcoal and carbon, then the filters are charcoal.
again I will take a picture later today.

Are they also good for Asbestos and Hydrogen Sulphide? And do you have a link where they sell it?

The mask and canister it's self will protect against every air hazard there is, it just does not replace oxygen... and here are the pics

BUT, I don't know where you buy them, I was given mine by my local armouries quarter-master as part of my combat kit. SO if you are lucky enough to see this type of mask bumping around on ebay or any military store, you buy it.
(And if you doubt that it protects against all air hazards, join the military and take the gas- hut training.)

neg pressure gas masks dont work on every air hazard (such as chlorine vapor) but they are still pretty good. A good source is www.approvedgasmasks.com

check the specs on the canister before you start using it to protect yourself from something.

That is not right. I have the C7A mask filter, It will last for several months in dry conditions, and only 4 months in wet conditions. And will protect against chlorine gas if it does not replace all the air in an enclosed area, in an outside environment (which is when we use gas masks for the most part) the chlorine gas won't replace all the o2 on a flatland. And no gasmask will replace oxygen. ever. So in a way you are right and wrong. (besides I have not came across a place where you did not know that there was chlorine gas in an enclosed environment.)

Yep you will be getting the exact same mask. When you get your kit, you will also get your mask. but you will get the filter later on; during the chemical warfare training.
But you will like the mask, it also has a tube on the outside which you can hook up a canteen to and drink out of...

How is this different from any other NBC military mask? You can buy them for $10 and up on ebay and $4 a filter. On top of that, i recommend getting one that is NOT canadian. They make great masks, but I believe they use 60mm threaded filters, not the standard 40.

Then again, if you're willing to deal with a filter and drinking tube adaptor... I loved my canadian mask minus those irritations. Must have been the previous issue, but looked about the same.

The problem that I had with the drinking hose, was when you were training with them, you didn't get a new one. And do you really want to drink out of a hose that's been sitting there with some water in it for a month or so? Even if the last person using it was cautious what about the previous? I just found it rather uncomfotable to use. But the mask was quite comfortable running around for a while.

Gas mask production for the canadian military goes to the lowest bidder. would you (just another soldier), trust you life with the lowest bidder? Civilian industrial masks are usually of better quality, have better vision, and have the protection text written plainly on them. Yes, they are a little more expensive, but I find the "costs" to be worth it. I am very happy with my north full face,(the 3m is also just as good, i've had both). I also have adapter hoses to put my cart's behind me, out from my face for better vision. also available are supplied air systems for most industrial masks (both self contained compressed, and hose fed). The multi gas multi vapor cart's, (they to protect against nucleides, and acid gasses/vapors if you buy them for that purpose), are purportedly better than mil spec. I also have a half mask, (as most UE sites only require this), and because of the vision issue, (all full face masks impair you vision), I may not put my protection on right away, putting myself at risk.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!
