| | | should me arm be numb like that? and it's a neat shade of bluish-green you ever saw...is that normal? ;) j/k. got my td booster (that's Tetanus-Diphtheria) today. i happened to find my old immunization records from when i was a kid and found that i was indeed near my time to reup. i thought it was cheaper than what i was charged, $20!! good thing the health department is near the hospital, i nearly had a heart attack.
anyways, i was wondering if there's anything else i should concern myself with in terms of inoculations? there are some pretty serious diseases out there that you just don't want to mess with. but if i'm so paranoid why bother going out UEing; risk is part of the fun right?

| | | I think if you are worried about UE related diseases etc. you are in good shape w/ just tetanus. Other than that, I can't think of any diseases/viruses/etc. that are practical to UEers. Maybe hantavirus, which is spread by rodent feces but I don't think there is a vaccine for that. Plus it's exceedingly rare. Flu shots are always a good idea too, should cost about 10-20 dollars....you'd consider it money well spent if you don't get it and end up w/ the flu...unable to explore for 1-2 weeks. Yikes!

| | | If I had the cash, I'd get the ones for hepatitus and anything else they can give. Sewage can carry most of the diseases of the people making it. Did you flex the muscle when they gave thu injection, Sid?

| | | no, actually i didn't. the nurse that gave me the shot was really good! i barely felt it. just a little prick. she had me relax my arm, dangle it by my side, and even let the arm fall down a bit where it's sorta out of the socket, know what i mean?? cause i had my arm just in my lap and she told me to put my arm down. i looked away, taking sudden interest in the ceiling. i felt a little pressure and a small poke. nothing else. now though, i feel just some soreness, similar to the feeling after someone punches you in the arm.

| | | You may want to look into hepatitus vaccinations too incase you like step on a used needle that someone used or get scratched by something someone else got scratched on during one of your UE adventures.

Yeah, this is actually somewhat normal when getting a Tetanus shot. If it gets any worse you might want to visit a doctor because there can be other adverse reactions.

| | | At the end of last summer, a friend and I gave each other tetanus shots from some excess vaccine that was going to be thrown away. Its supposed to be an intramuscular injection into the arm, which I mangaged to get right. My friend on the other hand put just a little too much force into it. Words fail to describe what its like to have needle go into your shoulder and bounce back with a *click* that you feel in your humerus (arm bone). But I'm still glad I got it... hep b is a good one too... I suppose hep a would be nice for the dedicated sewer crawler, and a rabies vacine might not be bad either. But there things are awfully costly. Caput_58
