+1 for Mechanix!

The cut proof ones are nice, but remember. They are designed for straight blade cuts. Jagged stuff can still tear you up.

I don't bother here. $60 is easily two or three times the cost of a trip to the emergency room (unless you have a broken bone or a gunshot wound) here, so spending as much on a pair of gloves as I would on two months of food is kind of redundant. I have better things to do with my money.

Maybe investing in a kevlar vest would be more useful!

I use mechanics gloves as well, since they allow for great dexterity to operate the controls on cameras.

Like Bob, I generally use weight-lifting gloves if I need gloves. Work wonders for climbing stuff, as I still have dexterity in them. And I haven't managed to slice a fingertip yet while wearing them.

I use powerflex gloves. They are that thermal type material with rubber palms. I find these gloves have good wet substance protection for the palm, they breath 'cause they are open on the back of your hand, and have better than normal hand gripping. That is I am able to grip things and hold on much more easily than without them. They are cheap ( i get them for free), and only cost 3-10$.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!
