Gaining entry

So, you found your way to an abandoned building, evaded detection, and are ready to enter. But wait! It's all boarded up! You don't want to smash your way in, or make a lot of noise. So how do you do it?

First, examine the boards and try to determine how they put it togeather. Odds are, the boards are going to be nailed or screwed on the outside of the building, because people generally don't board them up from the inside.

If it's held in with nails, a simple hammer or crowbar will allow you to pry the nails up with a minimum of noise. If it's screws, use a drill driver or screwdriver. I reccomend the driver, because oftentimes these screws will need a lot of torque to get loose.

Once all the nails or screws are gone just lift the board out of your way. Whoopee! You're inside!

Does that really work ?

I was going to try this on a house up in Madoc, but the next time that I went up the one board that was loose, was rescrewed tighter than a mother f-er.

After I went up the next time, there were people there boarding up the place even tighter,

so.... no inney I go.

don't forget to have some oil with you or wd - 40 if thats all you can get your hands on. this will be crucial if teh boards are old and dry cause no matter what you use ( driver or power driver ) the screw's will squeek very load because over time they have binded themself in the wood. all you have to do is get it up one thread coat with oil ( thicker the better ) and try not to get it all over the place so no one knows. then screw the screw back in so that the oils are now in the wood then just take them out. there will be no sound st all. this also works very well for gates or staircases that lower down. oil is one of the most important things to bring with you. a good pair of plyers is good to have also in case the screws or nails have no heads on them or if they are stripped, i prefer vise grips as they save on teh hand pressure needed. lol

happy hunting

Read "The Impossible" thread. It works.

But sometimes, you really have to throw all your weight into it and run the drill really slow, because some of those screws are in there good. I like the comment on the oil.

You can take them out, but when I did I removed the board and underneath was a whole other board screwed in from the inside, and I just said the heck with this and gave up. If it was in a less crowded area I might have tried.

But this still holds true, it just takes a bit of work to get screws out.
