| | | I recently happened upon the concept of UE and have also been putting it to practice. One problem though: I can't seem to find any new sites to explore. The area I live in should, theoretically, be rife with abandonment. What advice could you all give me about locating virgin territory?

| | | Drive around. Read [local] newspapers. Locations are out there, you just have to find them.

| | | I've always worked to a basic hierarchy for finding any potential UE sites. All of these depend on being out there and watching what goes on. Urban/suburban structures Vacant - Likely only in-between owners - build up of junk mail and lack of obvious maintenance. Usually locked and not worth the effort, but keep watch for further developments. Abandoned - Same signs as above but no-one has made any attempt at fixing any attempted/successful entries to property. Effectively an unsupervised, vacant property. Once open it is fair game in my book. Slated for development - the dead giveaway here is that the power and phone service lines have been physically cut. The owner's concern with the property here is the land and not any 'to be demolished structures' on it. Generally a walk in type site. Usually unremarkable, but some gems to be had. Definitely worth a look. Commercial structures work the same way, but access is usually a lot more 'amber' than 'green' Rural properties can be a bit different. I've found two in recent times, both abandoned houses with outbuildings, by simply keeping lookout for un-used, overgrown driveways in rural areas. (unless the place is clearly visible from the road!) Rurals are my favorite, far less likely to be vandalised quickly.

| | | Actually, rural property is my focus as of now. And considering the poverty of the surrounding area, old houses and whatnot shouldnt be that hard to find. Thanks for the tips, folks.

| | | Locals!! Just about every highschool graduate knows the abandoned building in town. Kids need somewhere to smoke and drink. For the cost of a drink you could be on your way.

| | | I have found that local lore about haunted places usually works in giving a good idea on where to go. Also driving and looking around where you assume there would be something works just as good.
