While gaffer's tape is great stuff (just used some today) it DOES leave glue behind. Lots of it on everything it touches. At least my rolls do.

Your best bet would be tape. That way you can remove it if need be.

I don't mean to sound like a tool, but are you using this bag solely for UE stuff?

If so maybee a quick trip to the local army navy surplus store you can pick up a backpack for cheap, or just go to k-mart or wal-mart and get an all black one on sale.

Short of just buying a new bag...

I'd say remove the threads and just take off the reflective material. If not possible, do NOT use electrical tape or any tape for that matter. It will only come off on you.

You can try to use black spraypaint.
You can take a piece of material and sew it on over it.
If you can't sew, get some shoe-goo and glue the material over it.
