The land entry at this point seems to be only possible through two gates; one of them a single person gate which was secured with a electromagnetic lock (I think... there was nothing holding it locked except for what appeared to be an extra large strikeplate/small prox reader on the gatepost.)

The other entrance is what appears to be a temporary construction gate, as this is a full height 15' wide gate, secured by a cased padlock (the one's you cant cut the shackle). The reason I think this is temporary is because there is a completed guardhouse and traffic arms within the "compound" about 100 yards down the line, but no actual gate in the perimeter fence. Leads me to believe that the final landscaping is yet to be done, as the "prison" type fence doesnt exactly scream a friendly welcoming.

sounds like he's got it handled, and yes, grappling hook, foot/hand spikes, or anything else you can get for free and rig to work.

This is the way the world ends.

Might've been brought up...

Maybe bring a shovel and dig a half-tunnel underneath it?

If you look at the bottom, they suck a decent anti dug concrete barrier underneath.

Genius work I might add. You are so screwed! But umm... good luck!

This thread was great as a spectator sport for a while. 5 pages and 80+ posts later I am on the verge of driving 18 hours to Florida to climb the damn fence myself just so I can make it stop. Will someone local PLEASE climb the fence? If someone in Baltimore could be kind enough to show me a comparable fence I would be happy to climb it myself.

I'm close to driving down there and wailing on it with a shovel which will produce no effect until I get tired and then just driving home.

On a semi-related note my college just put up a small fence made of that really slippery climb resistant wire. Only thing is, the fence is less than 5 feet tall so one could just leap over it. Makes no friggin sense.

would it be possible to get some flat bar stock that is about 1.5 times the length of your feet and about an inch wide and duct take it to the bottom of your shoes. they'd be kinda like skis. and for handles you could modify those gardent tools that have three tines. Make them a hook shape. I guarrantee if you use your imagiantion you can get over it.

i just made an improv grappling hook from a 1.50 gardening claw, 4.00 rubber coating dip, 14.00 () thick camo rope, a vise, a couple of pairs of pliers, and some man- strength.
weight testing pending- probably tomorrow.

It's REALLY easy once you get the hang of it.. we try to go climbing once and a while to keep the skills up in the summer.. If you really wanted to slowly piece it together me and my buddy made a thing about it that shows the way we climb as easily as we could.. it's floating somewhere around here..

Hey there.. long time thread reader, first time caller.

Nobody has brought this up yet, but - has it ocurred to anyone yet that if they've gone to this much expense to erect this sort of fence, that they might have also invested in some sort of continuity or motion monitoring within the fence?

Safe to say that if there's something this important to protect in there, they're likely not to stop at some fencing. This would likely render even the ubiquitous grappling hook suggestion invalid.

On the other hand.. why not just go for a swim and come up in the marina one night? Just watch out for alligators.

What is "anti-dig footing"?

Edit: I assume it means you can't dig under it.. but what does it look like.. what is it comprised of.. (just in case someone replies with the obvious, superbasic answer)

Posted by Normz
This is by far the most intimidating and impenetrable fence I have ever come across.

Around 14 feet high, absolutely seamless, continuous anti-dig footing, and top 7 feet fabricated of anti-climb mesh. This thing is so big and well constructed that it doesn't even need to be topped with barbed wire.

I don't think that there is anyway to ever get in without permission. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Forgot to add picture.

Once the weather gets nicer, do you think we could get together at a forest preserve or something and you could teach me how to climb? The photos/tutorial was helpful for me to visualize, but I'm more of a learn by actually watching kinda person.

I assume it's the concrete base the fence is placed in from what I saw of the picture... probably goes five or more feet down
