Fredericton, New Brunswick, Tunnel System

Hey everyone,

A few friends and I have been making a highly detailed archive of pictures, movies, maps, of the fredericton tunnel system. We already have over 1gb of media. We have organized it and referenced all the pictures to a huge map. We have covered over 5km of tunnels.

Anyways, I suppose i would like to join UER and publish my findings. Its truly extensive.

We are going to put up a website soon, but I would also like to publish here. thanks.

Oh, and i would like to upload the photos of the tunnels, they are arround 600k, if im going to post here i would have to compress them.

Oh man, you have to post this stuff! I'm living out of Saint John myself, and I've been dying for a good nearby underground system like that. Saint John isn't much for drains and such(as far as I've been able to tell).

A few clues as to how to access the tunnels would be awesome. It's only an hour's drive from here, and I'd be over there in a moment's notice.

Also, good to see another New Brunswicker. There's not exactly a lot of UE resources for New Brunswick, sadly. The best sites in Saint John got torn down before I ever got a chance to look(mainly the Saint John General Hospital(http://198.164.154.3/Heritage/giftshop/7s.gif) and the old sugar refinery.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing this stuff.

Hey,

Yeah I would love to become a member but I don't really know how.
We are making another expedition down there tonight. I would love to post my findings on this website and add to the database, we have so much info on the UNB tunnel system, so many pics, i think that im going to have one of the most comprehensive collections out there.

It's just organizing it all thats a prob.

You see there are two separate tunnel systems that are rumored to be linked,
one is the unb tunnel system, which is a Utility/Steam tunnel. And there is the fredericton tunnel system, which has a lot of history associated with it, that i will go into in more detail when i publish my findings.

The problem is, that the fredericton tunnel system has long since been shut, all the entrances are supposedly blocked off. So we are having some problem getting access to it. I would even begin to doubt they exist if it wasn't for the amount of people who talk about them, and the consistency in their stories.

Anyways, please help me become a member so i can show you what i have thus far.

Nice shots! I think I'll take a trip up to Fredericton soon and see if I can find an entrance near the UNB campus.

As for membership; unless I'm mistaken, if you're posting in the forum you can write up an entry for the database. I don't think you need to be a full member to add DB entries(I think they actually suggest adding a few entries to the database before applying for full membership).

I could be wrong though. I haven't tried yet.

We went down again tonight

Right now when we go down into the tunnels on campus we go in two groups. One group goes in the tunnels and performs "the mission" and the other group goes stays up and looks out for security ect.

This mission was a lil more sketchy then most of our missions. We are looking for a way into the fredericton tunnel system, and the most likely was is to go through LBR, but we can't open the doors...but the hinges are on our side of the door, so we decided that we could just take off the door unlock it and put it back up.

However, we didn't have the right tools to do it (our goof) so we exited out the tilley exit and called it a night.

We also went in a lil earlier then we usually do. Around 10pm. This was also not wise, as security goes around locking up campus around this time.

her is a pic of us outside LBR.

Cool stuff- and good job, Toxictoaster.

I was briefly in Fredericton a little while ago, and had a half hour or so to poke around campus. It was obvious there were utility tunnels, although I wasn't able to gain access in the short time I had.

I am surprised there are tunnels downtown, given its elevation relative to the river. With a town as old as Fredericton, it's no shock there are tunnel rumours. I wish I could have spent some time actually exploring the city.

Oh- to The Disgrace:
UNBSJ has a small tunnel system. It was pretty easy to get into, on account of construction. It's not big, but it was still cool to visit, and worth an hour's time.

It does? Interesting.

Well then, I guess that gives me something to do this weekend. Though really, come to think of it, I probably should have looked into this prior.

Thanks for the tip!

Well my journal has been going quite strong for sometime now. We have really entered a lull, as we have to get past two doors to continue our exploration. That an we lost one of our entrances. It's going to take some work to get an entrance back....kinda sad.

Anyone know what the tunnel system is like in Halifax?

I have not looked much into tunnel exploration myself, but am interested.

There are a couple of other buldings/sites that might be worth investigation. The old shoe factory and an old building behind Sobey's which I think is the old railway station. Any info on these would be good, we're hoping to get in after Christmas, pictures to follow....

me and a few guys have been exploring fredericton for a few years now, some other interesting things, you can gain entrance to the underside of both the pricess margaret and that other driving bridge, if you don't mind squeezing, the steeple at STU is a fun little climb. we have been thinking about the shoe factory for a while, any idea if it is monitored by sdecurity?
