I'm going to list my explored Louisiana sites, if you guys want to do the same. Perhaps our lists could coalesce into some sort of mini-directory? Eh, here goes (in no particular order):

The Pea Farm | Shreveport
Geodesic Dome | Baton Rouge
Falstaff Brewery | New Orleans
Holy Rosary School | Lafayette
Huey Long Pool | Baton Rouge
"The Dungeons" of LSU | Baton Rouge
Le Beau House | Arabi
Rhodessa School | Rhodessa
The Docks | Baton Rouge
Swaggart Dorms | Baton Rouge
The Fountain | Shreveport
Cave School | Highway 66, St. Francisville
Capitol House/Heidelberg Hotel | Baton Rouge
Tchoupitoulas Power Station | New Orleans
Canal St. Funeral Home | New Orleans
Ellerbe Rd. School - "Satan School" | Shreveport
Factory Ruins | St. Bernard

More...as I remember them...

I don't have any of the fancy shmancy pages and pages of pictures. I just have some sites. These are all places I have explored minimally/scouted and want to go back:

-Borden chemical plant in Geismar
-Deltech chemical plant in Zachary
both of the plants are almost completely shut down. Huge expanses of derelict or abandoned process lines, machinery, pipes....

-A tremendous number of abandoned/derelict houses north of BR on Hwy 61, all the way up to Woodville, MS and beyond.

-This big industrial building I have seen from I-110. Looks cool, but I don't know much about it.

And of course the Swaggart dorms, the Capital House and the Docks.

Also, I think it is back in service, but there was an old ammunition plant in between Ruston and Shreveport off of I-20. That place is huge as it was a big time plant.

Thanks, Cody.

Yeah, we definitely want to go back and explore the inside of the dome. We noticed a few possible entrance ways but we weren't prepared that day. So, let's go back sometime. I'm gonna say maybe late Friday afternoon/evening or early Saturday morning (3rd & 4th), because we'll be out of town for Labor Day. Anyway, I love your photos. You've done some really beautiful work. Hope we can get this BR group going soon.

Hi,
I am a new UER member, live in Baton Rouge. I went down to the dome last weekend with some friends. We managed to gain entrance, its pretty cool on the inside, but there seems to be asbestos and bat guano on the ground (I went without a mask, so its not abundant levels of asbestos). If you go to the UE DB (http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=23362) entry for the dome I added an image showing the various entrances we found.

If anyone wants specifics on how I got in just lemme know, I thought I would leave it as a bit of a mystery for those interested.

Someone should make that information private. We try not to allow just anyone information on how to gain access to a site. That information is better left to private mail. Otherwise those entrances may be fixed by the authorities or exploited by vandals. I hope you understand. Otherwise welcome to the boards.

No prob, glad you understand. Especially since from what I've heard, the owner or somebody still pays attention to the place.

Passed through Shreveport yesterday on my way to western Texas and took a couple of hours to track down and explore the Old Ellerbe School. What a bad ass location! K and I went through every wing of the school, have some great photos that will be posted soon. The gym was my favorite, when we first went in we disturbed a large owl that promptly flew out through the holes in the roof. Highly Recommended UE session!!!

My parents drove thru Orleans on the way to work in Gulfport-my mom says the whole east side between downtown and the bridge is abandoned. They've all been condemned due to water (duh!) Orleans always had great old places, u can just drive around for 15 minutes and find 10 sites.

Hello everyone! I hope all is well, after the hurricane displaced so many. I've since moved to Seattle, WA. As much as I like it here, I still miss exploring in Louisiana.

I will visit.

In the meantime, here are some of my exploration photos from the past:

If anyone wants locations, I'll still be lurking. Good luck!

OK, Im new to the whole "urban exploration" thing just because I never knew there was a term for it. I live in Baton Rouge. There is one place that I found as a kid that I would like to re-visit. My friens and I found an old cemetary in th middle of a cowfield off of Frenchtown Rd. I remeber that it was fenced with lots of trees and many of the graves were from the late 1800's to early 1900's I was about 13 or 14 at the time so my memory of exactly how to get there is hazy. He lived in Geo Jay's (sp?) subdivision, so we entered the field behind his house. Has anyone else see or heard of this place. Oh, and i'm NOT referring to any of the local devil worship rumors about the end of Frenchtown Rd. This place was closer to the begining.

What's with the links you posted last year? None of them work and I was curious mostly about the Falstaff Brewery and I think I saw a link to the Market St. Substation (or I may be crazy). Do you have those pics online anywhere?

Last year a friend of mine was doing some salvage work in the brewery and had legal access to it. I was supposed to get together with him one day and photograph the place. But that never materialized and then a hurricane came and screwed everything up. (I guess that outing y'all were planning for the weekend of Aug 27th never happened)

Pics below of the old First NBC bank building on City Park Avenue by the cemetaries...it's been demolished since the hurricane. The ancient "MasterCharge" sticker caught my eye when we were nosing around the place.

Several members here took a trip to NO a couple weeks before Katrina intent on getting into the Falstaff. It's not impossible, but our timing was bad as the owner/caretaker was there and wouldn't be talked into letting 5 guys run willy nilly through the place.

I'll find out if the Falstaff has been completely gutted yet. When they were doing the salvage project last year, it was supposed to become condominiums by now, but I"m sure the hurricane put a stop to that project.
