| | | Since i'm only 16 and dont have a driver's license i am stuck with my bike but it is definitely less suspicious as most of the abandoned buildings are close to busy roads and/or residential and business areas.

| | | Yes a good bike is very useful, especially in trails or just where a car won't fit. I try to make mine look ratty, so if somebody saw it they wouldn't see a bike in brand new condition.

| | | A bike is perfect I like it better because if you park it somewhere around the area if you have to get out fast you just run and if you can get on it and ride it away thats great but if not you could always come pick it up when things cool down.

| | | As long its not to far away and the weather is nice to me, I just go with bike, as previous said, it gets much less attraction then a car and also, for me its much faster then one. So much roadworks and everything like that make you just stuck in the traffic jam with a car. On the other hand, it keeps you in shape

| | | The last exploration I went on was with my bike. I remember riding over the bridge from downtown, the sun rising to my left, a guy with a shopping cart the only other person on the bike path (it was 5:00am). It was such a great, free feeling. I was on my way to my first solo exploration and I was using my own force to get myself there. (cue inspirational music) My solo turned out well, got in, got my shots, explored and then took off on my bike. A cop passed by just after I'd climbed over my last fence, but to his eyes I was just an early rising cyclist. I pedaled away on the bike path and burned abit of the adrenaline off. I've thought before about making a post about UE and biking, cuz I think they go so well together, for all the reasons talked about above. I think a bike is the best for recon especially. It allows you to go places a car couldn't go, doesn't look suspicious, lets you go slow enough to really see all the angles. When I see a likely entrance, I stop nearby and "have a drink from my water bottle". I look like someone out for a ride who'se just busy hydrating, but really I'm scoping the place out. I've found tons of stuff to explore, just by biking around aimlessly. My last two explorations were places that I found because I passed by them on my bike and thought "that'd be cool to check out". Neither spot would have come to my attention on transit or in a car.

| | | I've used a bike on most of the UEs I've been to. A bike's advantage to a car is that is goes anywhere, and is quick and easy to hide. Also, it's usually fun to go riding, and it's good excercise.

| | | I'm with the original poster. Bikes are great UE tools - to some extent. I typically use mine to scout. It's the easiest, most efficient, and healthiest way to do it, and you can easily move around places where a car can't. Say there is what appears to be an outfall for a drain in a forest - just bike to it! I don't really think there is any need to type up how many advantages a bike has to a car...

| | | Hi everybody, this is my first post. Sorry for my bad english in advance. Just yesterday I began to recon and scout the zone round my town with my old MTB. I locked it at a pole light, walked through an undergrowth lawn and entered into a complex I supposed to be an abandoned place. In reality it only was a scavenger depot, two sheds full of iron, old refrigerators and other trash. The place is in use, but luckly yesterday was Sunday Then I took my bike and started to explore the zone; passing slowly around houses and building is great, you have all the time to look and study what you want. Also, standing up on pedals makes you watch above many walls. I agree with all the other member ideas i read above. Bike is a great tool for UE. HI!

| | | This is all so true and accurate. Ironically enough, I found my current bike in a dry area of the California Aqueduct. Some fool Taco'ed the rear wheel really bad and mangled the fork. Since it was Trek 800, I picked the thing up and carried it back to my stepdads house two miles away. I spent $50 for some Shimano shift/brake levers and I just transplanted a fork and a rim from another junk bike in the backyard. After buying a 5 LED Cateye headlight, Cateye cyclocomputer(speedometer) and slapping on a Trek tailight, I only spent $100 turning it into the battlecruiser it is now.

| | | If the weather it good I'll ride my bike out to local areas. Heck I've even use my bike to scout the old CG plant in Milton. For the most part a bike is easier to hide and doesn't stand out as much.

| | | I have 5 bicycles. Am I a whore? In seriousness, the thought of using a bike has crossed my mind before, but many of the locations I've explored are many miles away from home, and such an arrangement would be impractical. I've considered driving to a non-suspicious area with bikes on the rack, and then riding in, though. Something I'll have to try...when I get my beater bike back. Don't want to be locking up the expensive bikeys outside of a UE location...

| | | I live in a small city with tons of abandoned places, so if im just going to be local I will skate board to what ever Mill or Armory I'm heading to not as suspicious as cars and you dont have to chain any thing up I can just bring my board along with me, but like i said thats only if I'm going somewhere local.
