A guy with a gun that has no training in how to us it is usually a danger to everyone (himself included) except his target! Especially if that gun is something like a M1911!

I've seen videos on TV of two guys with pistols open fire at each other from 5 feet away. (they both ran away from each other while firing)
Nobody was shot.

It's easy to defend ourself from close-range against someone with a gun, but that's not the point. You don't need to be point-blank to shoot someone. Jester's right, the point of camo is not to get caught.

Yes.
But as with everything, you need knowledge or training in it's use.
Camouflage will do you little or no good if you don't understand at least the basic principles of sight, concealment, and silent moving.

I'm working on a little writeup that is pretty much any training I've had that would prove useful for UE. I have no idea when it'll be done, 'coz I'm working all the time now, but I'll definetly post it up on the forums!

To get back to the point of the thread...
I'm really interested in learning about sneaking. Anything that I know, I'd like to have someone teach me a better way, or at least read about a better way. I live in Seattle, so theoretically I could go to Vancouver, but mostly I wouldn't want to put you out. Anything I can learn about staying unseen and moving unseen would be great. Have I said that enough yet?

Ehh... even that's not always the case. If you have all of your weight centered over one point, if that point happens to step on a creaky board, or a twig, the possibility of it snapping increases tremendously. Sometimes it would make sense, to allow you to use your lead foot as a 'tester' foot... but usually keeping your weight balanced as much as you can, being aware of your surroundings, and what it on the ground/what the ground is made of is usually a good way to start.

If you want really good practice sneaking, or balance, or anything... go into the woods and walk normally in an area, and listen to how much noise you make. Then start trying different things - shifting your weight, sliding your feet, lots of things.

Just a small question...who are you training under? I'm one of those 'Bujinkan people who claim to have the only official ninjtusu' students. I've never heard of your branch before.

That's kind of the point now, isn't it?
While the Bujinkan school is I guess you'd say an 'offshoot' of the Iga ninja clans, the school I train under comes from the Koga clans, which were much less known.

...riiight.
Anyways, I've come across a lot of people who claim to train in ninjutsu. Not callin you a liar or anything, but most of them were just people who read the Hayes books or looked up that moron Ashita Kim.
I don't really care all that much for the whole 'clan history' thing either. I'm more curious as to who your sensei is. Or is that some kinda koga ninja secret?

Don't believe a goddamn thing anyone says, because your nijushi isn't the real stuff. only mine is REAL ninjitsoup. Don't even try to pretend that you're good, because you're actually studying fake shit. god, I hate the people that come in here and think they know something about ninjitsubishi because they are all dorks that don't know real nijutsoap. Just leave the ninja stuff to me from now on, ok?

Thats so true. If you are practicing sneaking around somewhere, you might not be as critical of yourself. But if you are sneaking out, and will be screwed if you are caught, it really gives you a light step

All I know of martial arts is from my 25c. ninja book. (+ ninja turtles) It told me I had to worship some ninja god...

Heh, I used to read those books all the time. :p
Did you read that one that was supposed to be secrets from his training camp?
I wouldn't call it a 'koga ninja' secret, but I would call it his perogative to remain anonymous.

Fair enough. And no, I've never read their books.
Well I read about 5 minutes in this really funny ninja magazine they have at my dojo...high-larious. It's like from 1985 or something and they have the funniest stuff in it. "Learn how to fly with this super secret ninja technique!!" and "Make your opponent kill himself with fear!"

LOL!
I've always avoided mags like that. The Hayes books are okay, really good for some of the historical perspective, and they contain a lot of the basic taijutsu techniques.
