A long way from home...

It's been forever since I posted anything on UER...so I jumped on the opportunity to get a good 'splore in when I got my new d7000 about a week ago. I am originally from Southern California (here in ND for college), so this was a very new type of exploring for me... 1. It was way to cold, and 2. I've never had such an abundance of places to explore that I couldn't choose where to go. The warmest it got was about 15*, and the windchill was toying with negative double digits, not something that happens in Cali...

We did eventually pick some places that seemed pretty cool...several farmsteads (that's what they're called, right? I don't know...I'm just a city boy...), and an old town (you know the drill, no names). I hope you enjoy the photos...its not very easy doing photography in such cold weather...I'm sure you guys know this...

Its not that cold yet.. ;)
A cool pointer for keeping your camera working and not draining the battery in the cold is to tape a hand warmer on it.

You got some nice pictures tho and welcome to the cold north (Im not quite as far north as you).

You're right... 15 isn't that bad...keep in mind though, back home I'd still be getting 75 degrees this time of year. Meh, warm weather is overrated. Thanks for the handwarmer tip!

Here are most of the photos that wouldn't upload before...I still cant get 3 or 4 of them to work.
