Spelunking in the Great Colorado Flood of 2013

Went on a little explore this morning in the heart of the crazy ass flooding going on in Colorado today. The rain ended up cutting our adventure short and caused some problems with my camera, but I still managed to snap a few shots before we headed out.

Brief history. This building was constructed in 1903 (at a cost of 1 million dollars) and shut down in 1977. Entry is highly visible, but we assumed that on a day like today the police had a lot more to worry about than a couple kids sneaking into an abandonment.

Definitely looking to make a return trip in dry weather. Very interested in accessing the largest of the buildings.

Great photos! I love this spot. One of my first explores, and probably the location I've visited the most over thru years.

It's one of the more interesting places I've been out here. I wish it hadn't been in the middle of all that rain so I could have figured out getting around a little bit better. Didn't make it into the bigger building. Definitely will be something to revisit.

Great photos, it took me a second to even recognize this place. I think I'm due for another visit, it's been 4 or 5 years and I never did spend much time in the smaller building.
