Doors Open Denver

It's probably pretty lame, but I like getting to explore buildings I can't normally get in to and poking around, whether it is supervised or not.

Anyone else going out for this? Any recommendations?

Nothing wrong with DoD. A friend of mine has a family member who's involved with that, said it was really cool.

I went last year. It's impossible to get to all the locations in one day, so if you're thinking of going choose wisely. I would plan out a walking trip, at least last year a lot of locations were within three or four blocks of each other. The Governor's residence is pretty cool if you like fancy Victorian stuff, but you can't go in any of the rooms, just take pictures from the hallway, which is lame. And be prepared for a huge crowd in there. A lot of the Victorian mansions open up. Last year the participating ones had signs outside. There are a lot more participating buildings than are listed on the "sneak peek", methinks.

Doors open is pretty much only exciting if you, like me, are interested in history, because it's mostly the historical buildings that open up. Or if you don't like paying admission, because the museums have their doors open the rest of the year anyways. Or if you really, really like architecture. I'm interested in the opera house this year, that looks badass. Regarding the courthouse, I have a relative who works there and gives insider tours.

Dust came and went in that dark, and a harpstring gesticulation of spiders.

I might have to check this out, thanks for sharing! I just recently moved to Denver from Sacramento and am eager to explore my new stomping grounds.

This is very true, I am going out on Sunday. I remember last year the first place we visited was East. We asked them if the basement was open and they said no, so naturally the first place we went was the basement. We ran into the janitors down there too, they obviously didn't care we were down there. I also got to get onto the roof of the Spaghetti Factory even though they told us that we weren't supposed to go in there. It is nice, if they catch you somewhere you aren't supposed to be you can just say you got lost. In short DoD kicks ass, in my opinion.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I graduated from that school. As "punishment" they made me help clean out that basement, but I thought it was cool as hell. I found a bow and arrow down there and a secret tunnel. Also, the janitors are the coolest people there.

I saw some seriously cool stuff myself. I just edited all my photos and put them up this morning, but my flickr is in my real name and linking these two things may not be smart (not that I care that anyone here knows my ~true identity~, I just don't want it to be the result of a google search). I should figure out a work around for this in general to share pictures.
