| | | Nice start; I'm looking forward to seeing more (it will be helpful if you give them sequential numbers). Does the "200 mtn lions" building still stand, and do you know any history about it?

| | | Two Guns, located just off Interstate 40 east of Flagstaff was founded as Canyon Lodge by Earle and Louise Cundiff in the mid 1920s. They opened a large trading post, free campground and cottages for rent. The name of "Two Guns" came from the eccentric Henry "Indian" Miller a partner of Earle and talented huckster who falsely claimed to be a full-blooded Apache named Chief Crazy Thunder. Miller turned Two Guns into a major tourist attraction when he built a small zoo and erected fake Indian ruins around the canyon. Miller also exploited the legend of the nearby Apache Death Cave. In the late 1800s a group of some 40 Apaches hid in the caves after conducting raids against the Navajo and were promptly massacred by being set on fire within the caves. Miller conducted tours in the caves and actually sold the remains of the Apaches he found there. In 1930 after a dispute over management Miller fatally shot Earle (he was acquitted) he later suffered much misfortune such as being mauled by a Lynx and having his daughter die in a car crash, culminating in what is known as the "Curse of Two Guns". The property was sold in 1950 and had a series of unsuccessful owners until it burned down in 1971. 1. Old KOA Campground 1. 1.

| | | Great pictures! I recently road tripped through AZ and saw a ton of things that I was dying to explore. Though the presence of family and the prevalence of guns made me a bit nervous. I will have to seize the day next time around.

| | | The second photo down in the last set looks really cool; Navajo dwelling remnants, I assume. Thanks for the history update.
