Yeah they reminded me of those too. I grew up in Carp, and the bus ride to school every day involved driving past this one.

Drove by that place all the time but never bothered to stop and check it out. Looking at interior photos I'm not missing much. Still, it's cool as an Alaskan curiosity.

Got into a conversation with my dad about this place just the other week. Story was that they couldn't make it comply with fire code (I think because fire escapes, maybe), and thus couldn't have it be a hotel after all. Bad planning, that.

And yeah. There ain't much in Cantwell.
