| | The Meadow < on 10/25/2012 6:30 AM >
| | | I'm going to call this place 'the meadow', It has a real name, that explains who founded it, but I don't want this to turn up on a search engine, as the name isn't really anywhere on google yet. It might even be on the UER DB.. Im new so I wouldnt know. I will put it on there one day. Anyways on with the pics, this spot is in the Okanagan BC area, is very remote, and is private property. There is signs posted but the owners apparently live in Calgary, and it wasn't my first time there. Its basically a big village spread out through dense woods, that people used to live at year round. No power, No running water, just a river and wood stoves. Roughly 15 'houses', + saunas, sheds, outhouses, cars, garages, graves.. hippie commune/cult like history is what I've been told by some people that used to live there
I have at least 150 pics from the site but ill hold off on uploading them all

| | | Yeah, this place was a big-time hippie commune back around the same period that The Farm took off down in the states. IIRC it was a bunch of west coasters moved into the interior and built it, which is why the architecture is similar to what you see in some of the old communes down here on the Islands.

| | | What a strange and wonderful location. For a short time, years ago, I lived in Westbank and did a bunch of hiking and exploring in the area. Never was to this place though.

| | | Thanks for the pics. I haven't heard of this place, but would love to check it out sometime. I'm in the Okanagan as well. Hit me up next time around, if you're so inclined. If not, no worries.

| | | That rocking chair is just the most ubiquitous damn thing. Every one I've ever seen in this province has been that exact chair. Identical. Did they give them out as care packages in the 70's or something?
