Inflatable rafts

I have been thinking about buying a small inflatable raft for a little while now, and was wondering if anyone here had any opinions or suggestions, with regard to their use or lack thereof in UE.

I want one too. Former military base accessible from water. Land based approaches are covered by nosy neighbors and another governmental agency compound.

There have been some super awesome infiltrations pulled off by people in small inflatable vessels with trolling motors. Search for Ghost Fleet.

My interpretation of "exploration" is pretty broad. I explore our urban creeks pretty often. I've used an aluminium canoe and have inflatable "tubes" now. I am not sure any inflatable will be durable enough to handle anything but very easy use.

yeah, I am weighing the merits of getting one for a few people or for a single person. I am kinda leaning towards the Sevylor Colossus 4 Person because its real cheap and rated for a decent amount of weight.

Inflatables are awesome in terms of storage, they're also great for hiding when you get to the site you're about to explore (the only thing that sucks is inflating them again w/o a pump). While I don't have an opinion on a specific brand there are specs to look for such as durability (thick material so it won't tear on debris at the bottom), will it work with a motor (a quiet one preferably) or an oar, is it easy to conceal (not hot orange and not seven feet wide), and can it fit into most spaces (tight ones included).

I would look for something that's a non-conspicuous color, works well with oars since a motor can be a dead give away, can fit into both small and large spaces and has a tough exterior. Looking into a hand pump might be a good idea too.

I use mine very rarely, but they are occasionally useful:

@DJ Craig, that is really sweet, I hope I can take a raft on an outing that exciting sometime.

I carry a bike pump with me so I figure I can either make or buy something to enable that to work with the raft. I think I will go for the Colossus, if I like it enough I may upgrade eventually.
