No Tourists Here

That's not even technically true. A couple of them were walking around the grounds while I was inside. I was quite startled to walk into one room and see a guy staring up through the window seemingly directly at me, although he was obviously just looking at the building and didn't notice me.

This hotel was built in 1888 and closed in 2010. The degree of damage it's sustained in the two years since has been remarkable, with a large amount of rot and vandalism from local kids. Unfortunately, other than its size and the views, this place doesn't really have a lot going for it as an exploring location. Most of the furniture is gone, and what's left is unremarkable. The only other anomaly of my visit was a loud electronic chirp that I heard at irregular intervals throughout the building. I was worried at first that I'd tripped an alarm of some sort, despite the total lack of power, but I realized that it was just the low battery warning on many of the smoke detectors that hung in every room. So, not the most exciting place ever, but a nice introduction to exploring in my new locale!

You got some really great shots of this place, but Filth City is gonna hate number twelve.

What time of day? Late afternoon? The light ain't bad at all.

It's that cliché, huh?

And I took these around 5:15-6 in the evening. The rest of the day was overcast, so when it cleared up I felt I had to make good use of it.

Cool looking place.

Not to be stalker-ish, but I think I remember seeing a group shot with PD drinking the beers in the second to last shot. I remember thinking that looked like a rad place to look out from whilst drinking suds from an abandonment.

Fuckin' rad! I know where I'm having my evening beer tonight.

Did you guys leave all of the bibles lying around open to the Book of Job, too?

Wow awesome place, with amazing views! Not often you find a place like that. Looks like access must be kinda difficult tho hence the lack of grafitti. great find!

I love the Armoire in the one pic. It is beautiful and shame that they just left it there when they could have made some great money selling it. Also it looks like it was a really beautiful place at one time. I would love to see pics of it when it was at its best. Some of the finishes like light fixtures are beautiful. The view looks spectacular!

This whole set is awesome. Looks like a really cool place. I love the pic with the chairs and the TV-it looks straight out of another decade. I would totally carpet my entire apartment with that lime green.

holy shit, time warp to 1995!

The nightmare corpse-city of R'lyeh…was built in measureless eons behind history by the vast, loathsome shapes that seeped down from the dark stars. There lay great Cthulhu and his hordes, hidden in green slimy vaults.

I had a feeling this was the place before I saw any pictures when I saw the part in the description about the smoke alarm beeping. It definitely startled me when I went! As unexciting as it is this will always be one of my favorite places. Nice shots!

Nice shots. This place is beautiful even now; must have been stunning in it's heyday.
