There's a bunch of desks and stuff left in the offices of an abandoned factory near me- would I be able to sell any of them someplace? Also list all sorts of crazy stuff you found while exploring.

Typically no. You want to leave them for other's to find and discover. If the guy before you take's the desks, you wouldnt have seen them in the first place. Also, dont put yourself on the same level as copper thieve's and vandals.

Screw you notbatman your a dick and so is Greg brick and crawnorder thanks for the levelheaded response. And the factory was in pretty pristine condition for a place that was abandoned for 10 years. I guess your right about letting other people discover them. The place is pretty damn hard to get into so not many will see the stuff, but after hearing your response, I will refrain from throwing any more computers out the window.

It's not so much about what you consider a level-headed response vs. one that you think isn't, but rather that this is a very basic question of ethics and consideration for others. To the point that it is shocking that you even had to ask this.

Let's say there is a new city park with a playground that everybody enjoys, and there is actually an enthusiast group for this park. Let's say you came in and told everyone how you love this park, and you're going to go later and steal the swing set for your own back yard.

Can you see why aside from it being simply wrong, that everyone here will especially hate you? You are proposing taking away from what everyone enjoys for just yourself, and to destroy for shits-and-giggles (throwing computers out the window).

So nobody here is even close to being a dick but you.

You don't get it, do you? It isn't yours to take, even if it was something left behind. Admire it, create memories, and let it be.

well needless to say, im a newcomer to UE i would think the other users would be a little more compassionate about that, and also i obviously understood the idea that i should leave the stuff there. and i said notbatman was a dick because he didnt give me an answer, he called me a feral cave dildo. and greg brick is a well known dick. and i am not a dick, i am a normal person trying to learn a little about urban exploration because i find it very fun. now after learning your opinions on the matter, i wont throw computers out the window. why its so shocking i had to ask this i have no idea since it is such a common practice among people who go to these places.

At this point I appreciate your honesty.

Yes, there are people who fuck up shit for fun. I'm sure everyone has known these kind of people too in their own lives. I can tell you that they tend to be kids, or messed-up adults. Nothing wrong with kids, except that kids haven't quite lived long enough to be on both sides of the fucking-things-up vs. having-stuff-important-to-you-fucked-up-by-somebody-else viewpoint. So sometimes they do things "just because".

Which as you now know, still doesn't make it right as it affects other people.

But yeah, don't do it.

Tell you what's really fun, though. UE is all about getting into places and seeing things that nobody else has seen. Sometimes these places are absolutely amazing and weird... and sometimes these places are kinda plain, which doesn't necessarily take away from their value, because what may be plain today might have been some secret government laboratory in the past... or some place where something happened, like maybe the guy who figured out how to make the first microchip that goes into your computer/iPad/etc. possible.

As you get older and see more places where people do their work (actual factories, laboratories, etc.) you can begin to imagine what things were like back then in these places. Then things become very interesting.

A lot of us also try to photograph these amazing places. You can look around the board and see that there is quite a difference between a mind-blowing photo, and one that is just meh. So that's something else that is fun and a challenge. If you do it well, you WILL be badass.

(PS - I didn't really mention the adventure of discovering, getting into, and exploring a dangerous place, but yes, even us adults enjoy that too. We just don't wanna be telling kids to do that. ;))

I'd be honored to have been called that as a noob.

These whippersnappers and their cave dildos.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Don't worry about names. I still remember how its like being 15. It's hard to tell right now, but names that don't really hurt (that is, names that don't point to a real problem that you might have) are really just people playing around.

Heck, all our friends actually really appreciate it when we call each other by some of our crazy nicknames.

i dont give a crap about him calling me names because hes a dick, but calling people feral cave dildos is pretty stupid if your saying that on a forum where a lot of people explore caves. i at least give him credit for being creative.

Did nobody figure out that he wasn't calling you a feral cave dildo, he was saying he found one once, and he just was answering your question?

If you're a newcomer, how do you know who Greg Brick is, but not the context that link was used in?

You can't see as much of the context as I remembered so you will just have to take my word for it that this is, in fact, in a cave (in a place that need not be know, back one gith a while ago just before we properly opened it up for people like benneh who like to smash all the cool artifacts and sets that they can't just steal).

(It's not my image and I didn't bother asking everyone's permission, so I just blurred out everyone else's face.)

So to summarize: I was answering your request to "list all sorts of crazy stuff you found while exploring." I was trying to use as few words as possible, I even referenced said request and provided a single line-item so you wouldn't get lost and confused and start smashing things.

Now, however, I'm starting to see a resemblance between you and said Feral Cave Dildo.

I'm a "Leave only footprints, take only pornography" kind of guy, myself.
