Locked Out!

So I've been lurking about the forums, trying to find a solution to the biggest obstacle I'm facing so far: Locked doors. (I'm incredibly new at this, okay?)
Obviously, I could try to learn to pick locks. However, all I've heard so far has been rather discouraging. "It takes a long time, is incredibly difficult, etc."
I could also try bump keys, perhaps in combination with lock-picking.
Aside from trying to kick down doors or break windows (which would be property destruction, and totally unacceptable) are there any alternatives that I can try?
If not, any really good hints or tips on picking locks and procuring bump keys?

Climb onto the roof a lot of roof hatches aren't locked, I've gotten into buildings that way. Or try an upstairs window, those usually aren't locked either.

if you look in the User forums, there is a sub-forum that gets in depth discussions on this, I don't think there has been a post in years but theres still enough information of what you need to do or suggestions if you do want to continue looking into the lock picking scene.

Oh, and keep looking for other ways in. There's always some way in, just some more sketch than others. Just don't go climbing down chimneys or air vent stacks and getting stuck. More ninja skills, or learn some picking.

Try harder.

I'm not being a smart ass...most of the time you can just try harder. Think of something different.

I used to feel trapped outside the buildings because I thought it was either door or window. I've gotten in through exploiting the functions of sliding doors, climbing trees, and even digging. I don't ever plan to learn lockpicking.

I haven't learned lockpicking yet. All I do is try every door and window, and if they're all locked I come back later. It almost always works.

I learned lock picking in Germany for fun, as they have competitions there.
It's quite easy to pick a lock with the right tool and the average look take about 10 seconds to open.
A guy in this group opened a business later on to open doors without destroying the lock.

A cop showed us how to open the more expensive cars and other funny things.

As it's against the law in Texas to have lock picking tools without proper license, I left them in Germany.

But you can open a chain lock with a coke can.

Are you suggesting that one should employ Jeremy Clarkson style tactics.
