| | | Honestly, we all had to start somewhere. We were all once "noobs". No one knew who you guys were until you started sharing your explorations with the masses on the internet. What do you expect? This is a public forum for everyone who has a passion for capturing what is left of the past before it is all gone. We also understand that you guys can be quite protective of your "findings". I understand, really, I do. I wouldn't want some dumbass to go ruin it for the next person either. Yet, you guys haven't even given us a chance. You just make your assumptions based on the fact that we're the noobs and have no damn respect for the rest of you. How do you suppose you get respected if none is given in return? I'm not saying you should tell me where the locations are or ask you to be my tour guide for the day, or go explore Gates as a big group of inexperienced twats. We were just merely expressing our thoughts. I.E.: "It would be cool if I was a full member and can go exploring with you guys." There was no harm in saying that. No offense but some just need to simmer it down a bit and not get their panties in a bunch. [last edit 7/30/2012 4:49 AM by VGTLady - edited 1 times]

I'm only jesting, and not hazing. I thought everything you said was well put. I think things are just slow over here and everyone is frustrated and bored. We've spent the past year contemplating entering a barn.

Why enter a barn when there's hundreds of abandoned mines here in Colorado that need exploring. Now that's an adventure...

| | | I was one hell of a noob. If you go back to my very first post on UER, it is a bunch of exteriors of the Gates factory, and my spelling is just awful, too! If you stick around here on UER, post lots of pictures of your explores and earn the trust of the locals, UER is a helpful place! Like Mir said, we are all just bored. And when a new member comes along and posts something that has even the slightest thing wrong with it, it gives a lot of us something to do, personally I find nothing wrong with this post, she didn't give out any info as to where it was, etc etc. Here is a link to my first post on UER for your enjoyment and lolz: http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0 On a positive note, this place looks sweet! And I love that last film shot. [last edit 7/30/2012 3:18 PM by urbexkeith - edited 2 times]

Us getting our panties in a bunch is merely just part of welcoming those that are new to the forum. Speaking from my own perspective, I've had it happen to me, and once you find the correct flow and way things work it'll most likely stop. Just, for the love of God, stop being so gung-ho.... This shit takes finesse. I believe us veteran explorers are all super protective about locations because they can be dangerous, (unless you look up in depth about some of the ridiculous hazards that are present with each specific location/talk to someone who's been there before) and certain precautions might be necessary.. or the fact that some locations are better off not being explored by hoards of unseasoned people. For me at least, I think the one of the coolest parts about exploring is finding a place that everyone and their mother haven't been to before. Not saying that Orangespider gave away ANYTHING about the location (she did it completely right, with no name dropping or location specs). But it's just so much nicer when locations stay a little more secretive, as to not have a group of teenagers hear about it and start swarming the place thinking it's a good location to do drugs, and have parties, and draw attention to a location.. I remember when I first joined the forum, I shared a few locations with some people who have been a part of this community for a while and got jack shit in return. It pissed me off, but then I learned. I didn't get all butt hurt and say "hey, I'm new, why'd ya do that? It's not faaaiiirr." Just for the record, trying to get a giant group of unexperienced people to try and storm Gates, is quite reasonably THE most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. That's the best way to get arrested, and for Gates to be sealed up a fuck-ton tighter than it already is.

Edit* If you want to validate your existence on this forum, and get a little more acceptance from the members, maybe explore some stuff add pictures and stories like Orangespider did. But if you have absolutely no posts about what you like to explore/have explored then nobody is going to take you seriously. IMHO.. [last edit 7/30/2012 7:57 PM by Snipe_Hunter - edited 1 times]

| | | Sniper hunter u make a great point. U guys may be veterans in this site but just because some of us are new doesn't mean that we 'rookies' don't know what we are doing. I been exploring for a long time. I usually go exploring by myself just cause I don't want to endanger someone. It would be nice to know people that like exploring like I do. That's why I joined the uer site. On my phone it won't let be download my pics but when I get someone to help me with a laptop I will post some of my pics for everyone to enjoy...

Thanks, Snipe_Hunter. I've been 'sploring for a while but am new to the forum and definitely want to be sure to do things right. I completely understand everyone's desire for secrecy which is why I made sure to post zero details about this location (I want it to remain pristine too, after all). And I understand that y'all are skeptical about n00bs like myself, so no big deal. Better to be too secretive than not enough, right? [last edit 7/31/2012 5:26 AM by orangespider - edited 1 times]

I totally get that. I'd hate to see this place vandalized or for the security to be increased, so I'm being super careful. That said, since I am new to the forum I would appreciate being called out if I accidentally posted something that endangered the site. Because damn, that's an awesome place.
