|  | | | Hey everyone. I've recently started exploring again after a bit of a hiatus, and this time around I'm packing a Canon 60D w/ a 18-200mm lens (which is about all I can afford at the moment). I used to shoot in a more documentary sense, "this is where I've been, that's how this place looks now, etc", but I'm finding myself more interested in trying to take GOOD photos now, and I feel like I'm at a plateau. Anyways, here are a few of my current favorites.
(Hopefully the geotagging on Flickr isn't an issue. Everyone and their mother knows where this place is.)

| | | | #1 is fantastic, I love the composition there. #2 is neat, cool lighting and I like how the glass is hanging there on those threads. The rest, meh. Nothing wrong with them, but they don't grab me like the first two.

| | | | Thanks guys. Any specifics on why the others aren't so hot? I was honestly pretty happy with #5 myself. I totally did not place that chair there, by the way... I think someone shot part of an indie film here based on some other stuff left behind.

| | | | I think the first is your most interesting composition by far. The 2 broken glass photos aren't really showing me anything I haven't seen before. The 4th has kinda boring subject matter. Not a big fan of graffiti in photos unless it's very well done and/or somehow add something to the composition of the photo. The last one is fantastic but I'd bet it's a shot many other photographers have taken in the past.

| | | | The lighting is ridiculous, love it--and the macros of the glass are beautiful. I'm noticing barrel distortion though, like on the right of 2. Either lens correction or some innovative cropping would make these shots, as far as I'm concerned, perfect.

@Garutachi: I can definitely see what you mean about #4. Mostly I shot this one based on the lighting (it was crazy blue in this hall between the blue skies, blueish walls and blue graffiti), and as an attempt at a more interesting "down the hallway shot". As for #5, I've definitely seen a handful of the "solitary chair in abandoned place" photos, but I just couldn't pass it up when I saw the light falling almost directly on the chair 
@Weirdling: The lighting in this place really was awesome. That final shot only maintained that light for about 15 minutes before the sun's angle changed enough to no longer cast through a tiny section of broken window. Very lucky for me! I've definitely been noticing the barreling effect of my lens on shots with straight lines toward the edges. Taking a look at Canon's DPP, I see that it seems able to correct the distortion pretty well so I'll certainly be using that feature in the future.
