far from good...

hi all,

decided to put up some of my "not so good, but i kind of like them, but i'm not really sure if you like them" photos for c&c. all comments and opinions are greatly appreciated. i know technically many are poor, but i sometimes find that that isnt really what's important. i have a ton of "good photos", i just want some ideas on whether or not these could possibly make up the minority of my set of keepers...

thanks.

all taken with a 1dmkiii. (i dont know why they're all sepia, i just thought it kind of fit the feel...)

I like 'em! #5 is beautiful. The sepia is a cool look, like the old west.

I really like the third shot. The tone and lighting in 3 and 4 are nice, IMHO.

It looks like you suffer from the same affliction as my dad when he takes a photo... 2° tilt. Each of your photos looks to be slightly leaning to the right and could use a little rotation back the other way.

Keep up the good work!

Honestly, I think they're all pretty much baller as hell, but with the single off-putting tick that they're ever so slightly off perfectly squared/straightened perspective.

If you ran any of these through Photoshops lens correction tool or DXO software to perfectly straight out the lines, they'd be flawless grade.

We didn't need a story. We didn't need a real world. We just had to keep walking. And we became the stories, we became the places. We were the lights, the deserts, the faraway worlds. We were you before you even existed.

#1 is a nice shot but the perspective is a bit off.
#2 should be tossed
#3 & 5 are real winners!
#4 is good

Edit: by #2 should be tossed, I mean, it's a good picture and everything. There is nothing wrong with it but is just boring IMO.

Far from good? What are you talking about?

The only one that doesn't hold my interest is the first one, but only due to the angle and graffiti. The contrast might also be a bit high, at least for my tastes.

The others are great, just sort out some leveling and I'd say you've got halls down like a boss. I'm noticing vignetting, but it works with the shots. But if this isn't intentional, just keep it in mind when shooting in the future.

#1 Throw away
#2 Straighten
#3 Fix the color and center it.
#4 Color. Too much vignette and too much floor and ceiling.
#5 Color. Too much vignette

Overall not bad.

I can't disagree more. The subject to it may not be exciting but he at least is capturing the decay.
