Going to Titan 2-B soon
< on 3/12/2012 2:33 AM >
Posted on Forum: UER Forum

I've never been, so I wanted to ask some questions before I go.

Is it safe to go in the daytime? And if so, where should I park to avoid being noticed?

Are there any particular areas that I should stay out of, or be extremely careful in (Beside the obvious whole of the place)?

And I remember reading about some lady that lived near there that said she would call the cops if she saw anyone on the property. As of now, what is the likelihood of that happening?

Thanks,

Traverse

I'm assuming you're referring to 2B.

There should be plenty on that one on this board. Look.

I/many others have been in the daytime. Usually it's fine. Though if the neighbors are watching you get out of your car you might want to be wary. There isn't really anywhere to park but near it...also remember it's a bunker, it looks the same day or night. If you're really worried about getting seen, go at night. It's moderately safe, just don't fall in the places where it would suck to fall. That's all the knowledge you need.

Yo dawg, it's in the middle of no where. Daylight is perfectly feasible, but if you're paranoid the cover of night is advisable.

Awesome thanks. Just didn't want to fall through any sketchy flooring without knowing it first. Appreciate the replies.

Well, it's deep underground and natural light doesn't normally reach those places very well. Be aware that the place has a shit ton of gigantic pitfalls. They're behind doors a lot too, so make sure you mind your step. For example, you may open a door, and their won't be nuffin but a giant crevice on the ground ready to swallow you up whole forever and ever and no one will ever find your body.

the ones out in cali are flooded or full of poison gas too. fun times. Dont forget you can always use the army core of engineers formally used defense sites or corpsfuds.gov to find out the status before you go in.

yeah, and don't go alone. If something happened in this place and you were alone, no-one would find you for a long time.

This raises questions. What would the protocol here be for finding a dead body? I honestly don't know what I would do. Morally I would somewhat feel obliged to alert the proper authorities, but a dead body is a dead body and I have no respect for bodies--only the people they once were. There's a moral obligation to the family members and people of relation. At the same time there could be some serious repercussions for being in some places, for example the silos. I don't even know how I would go about explaining that, and I doubt they'l just blow it all over just for being good citizens. There could also be an issue of being suspected of murdering someone too just for finding the body. So what would you guys do? I personally wouldn't feel too surprised to find a body in one of the silos.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. What should we do if that situation were to occur? And how often do people, not just authorities check places like l'silos? I imagine we head down there more often than the authorities do, so it's more likely we would discover bodies. I think very honestly, if the body was in advanced stages of skeletonization I would probably loot the corpse for cool bones, but if we were speaking about something before putrefaction and decomposition like Livor Mortis, I might freak the fuck out and start looking over my shoulder a lot. With the second scenario I'm torn between diligently removing all evidence of being in the vicinity, disappearing and never mentioning it again or immediately contacting the proper authorities. Of course I understand it could be anonymously reported as well, but suppose it wasn't just an accident and some super intelligent serial killer was diligent in leaving no trace behind--hey wait a second, isn't our motto leave no trace behind?

This is just one of the thoughts I sometimes have while exploring, but for some reason it's not as prominent when I'm not...Just thought I'd throw it out there and ask while I still remembered.

*edit*
I suppose an anonymous tip off is definitely in order, but...if it is in advanced stages of skeletonization I would probably still keep the bones, maybe. I do adhere to our policy of leave nothing, and taking nothing but pictures, and I wouldn't want to be caught with someone's remains, but...bones...It'l be a judgement call at that point. Probably the best thing to do when discovering a body is to immediately stop fouling the crime scene with your evidence, and anonymously tip off the police.

How does that work anyways? I feel like anonymous tip offs were primarily made for people who want to report crime but are also committing it at the same time, so it would be natural for them to have some smarmy way to identify people too. Probably through their phones and stuff.

They're also in place so that witnesses can report the situation without feeling threatened or be worried about repercussions from the person who committed the crime. In Canada we have a 1-800 number you can call.

For example a small time drug dealer might witness a murder or robbery, and not want to report it to police in case they themselves end up in jail for dealing.

I'm going to echo what the rest of these people said...we've gone in daylight, even parked basically on top before with no problem but I've also heard the opposite from others who've done the same thing. Luck probably has a lot to do with it.

If you're super paranoid, arrange a drop/extraction style run with a driver who's okay with chilling for a few hours while you're inside the silo, or park far away and ride bikes in. There's tons of ways around the parking thing; shit, the first time I went with tunnelbug and secretdestroyers back in the day, we stashed our jeep over a mile away and walked in overland under cover of darkness. Probably overkill, but it worked.

Other than that, take a respirator, carry backup lights (it's cave dark in the silo) and watch your step...there's ten thousand different ways to die in there, don't pick one.

We drove on the property right a sunset, so headlights were off but it was still bright enough to see. parked by these weird hills and had no problems.

"Is that the entrance to the drain?" "Yeah" "It's right behind the police station." "Oh. Maybe we should go to a different one..."

The 2-B silo is a titan I. They are much bigger than titan II's. The 2-B layout looks like this:
