| | School's Out < on 3/3/2012 12:20 AM >
| | | 1. As part of an explor-a-thon this week, me and and few others (including two young and enthusiastic explorers) took a visit to the eastern shore. We picked a road and started driving down it. It didn't take long before we pulled up to this little reminder of younger days...
2. The basement, although cracked and outdated, was surprisingly well kept with very little trash or vandalism.
3. Continuing on through an old door at the back of the basement led to the first floor.
4. It was a well lit series of rooms. Overgrown with moss and mold and was littered with structural supports for the upper floors. The walls had a poor attempt to frighten people away by the hands of minors with paint
5. Sitting quietly by a front window was a teachers desk with a building permit. Leading one to believe that this school may soon once again hear the sounds of children running in the halls
6. I Then proceeded to one of the two stairs wells that sat at opposite ends of the long hallway on the first floor and made my way to the second
7. The second floor was a group of empty classrooms. The walls had been stripped to expose the buildings aged inner structure
8. and what I assume by the size could have been a band room, complete with two forgotten chairs sitting side by side (I call this picture "High School Crush")
9. After examining classroom after classroom I decided to climb to the third floor for a look at the view before heading down to leave (still kicking myself for not thinking about looking for a roof access)
10. I did however find and open window with a small ledge so I still got a pretty good view before leaving
11. As we drove away I wondered how long it would take before this historic building was renovated and turned into another business.
More of the Eastern Shore S-Plore-a-thon to come...

| | | pics came out great. I thought #8 was a gym or cafeteria. Can't wait to see the rest of the pics. We'll have to do another explorathon up there.

I explored this place last weekend but both doors were locked; how did you get in? There was a murder that took place there on April 17, 1980 so perhaps that is the reason for the graffiti, although I've never read of any evidence of an actual haunting. I would love to join you if you go back.
