Abandoned Sand and Gravel Quarry

Greetings all,

This is my first post, so if it's a little lacking I apologize. These shots were taken on a quick stop while driving home from work one day (minor detour). I spent about 30 minutes, but plan on going back to look around a bit more very soon.

Hope you enjoy.

Pretty cool find it looks kinda like a prison guard tower and suspension bridge at the right angles; I really like the silhouette-y pics :0

Welcome to UER.

I love old machinery.

Numbers 9, 10, and 11 are nice with the sun setting in them. Seeing in the distance at dusk always reminds me of the sleeping of a beast. ^_^

8 is my favorite, reminds me of a prehistoric lumbering beast for some reason.

Nice! Is that near Cary? I grew up there, so I'm surprised there's something that huge in the area I don't know about.

Welcome, and great location and photos... really like the way the light from the cloud reflects off the windows in (10). It really adds a sense of depth and dimension to the shot.

@Avius - This is actually just barely east of Lillington, NC. Due to work I commute from Cary to Fayetteville on a daily basis, so depending on the time of day I'll take a side road or two, this was on one of them.

@sope - The 3 last photos were throwaways for a month or so then bored, I decided to go back in and tinker a little in PS, they were pretty damn bland originally so I kicked up the vibrance and decreased the gamma correction on them, made a huge difference.

Ouch! I thought my commute from Durham to Wake Forest was bad. :p
