If that's not an appropriate title for this set, I don't know what is. This farm (I was pressed for time as the sun was setting already, so I only shot the house and not any of the other buildings) is on pasture currently in use, and a lovely repository of cow bones, corpses in various stages of decay, and fresh shit patties, all of which I discovered in abundance while making the trek up the hill to where the house was.

At first glance through the window I thought perhaps this was a barn, due to the fact that the floor seemed to be solid dirt. There WAS a floor underneath it all, in fact, buried under about 70-80 years of a combination of bird/vermin shit and the debris of the structure, decayed to a veritable compost.

Cute little side porch/mud room. The remnants of yellow paint still clinging throughout the house made me smile.

Hard to tell, but there are pigeon feathers all over the floor in this room. Also, a piece of wire fencing over the top right corner, which I thought was odd. Ran out of planks to blockade the gaps, I guess?

I thought these stairs were just lovely.

I wanted to take a photo of myself sitting in the far corner for the Super Rad Portraits thread, but couldn't tightrope-walk across the support beams fast enough before my camera timer went off.

This photo came out noisy as hell, but when I de-noiseified it with DPP, it got too soft for my taste. I believe this was the kitchen.

One of very few identifiable objects left behind.

Watching the sunset on the back porch.

This photo needs some work...I may have to stretch my editing skillz beyond cropping and curves.

Ah, I see you have found an old "Hay House". Common around here, old homes that are in the pasture now are used to store hay bales for the cattle. You have to barricade it to keep them from just going in and eating all they want (and falling through the floors and gettin injured as well). I have spend many a hot summer day unloading a hay trailer into an abandoned house. Not as common anymore since dumbass kids like to set intense fires. And when a full hay house goes up, not much you can do other than watch.

Thanks for the info! Also explains why a house I explored years ago had hay on the floors (even though it was nowhere near pasture, although may have been once upon a time). I did assume that they boarded it up to keep the cows out, but I wonder why they went to the trouble to barricade the upper levels though. Maybe the hay was loose and they didn't want it to fall out?

Pretty. It's so sad that people would let such a beautiful house go to pot like that.

Last 2 photos are epic. They look straight out of a horror movie.
Great stuff.
