For the record I disagree with the mod teams decision b/c past meet and greets have been granted stars, and although the official meetup ended, many of you continued on into the night with your escapades and adventures.
After some discussion for the approval of your event it was realized that this is a monthly 'meet and greet' and those are not eligible for an event icon. We realize that this has been granted several times in the past and they just seem to have slipped under the wire. Thank you for taking the time to put all the information in the requested manner but there will not be an icon available for this meet.

What we are referencing in particular is:
Requirements for a Convention Icon
The Convention Icons are reserved for events which have a specialness to them or meet one of the following criteria:
A large number of people from a wide area attended
The event spanned multiple days
A special set of locations was explored
A special theme applied
If there is something we have overlooked and you feel it needs to be looked at more closely, let us know. But we do know it was a monthly meet up with you and a lot of attendees. Unfortunately that doesn't meet the criteria.

I don't see what you're upset about... Ophie said she realizes that this has happened in the past, but says they slipped under the wire. I don't think her stopping it from happening again is anything to be upset about.
That would be like saying well, I ran a stop sign before and didn't get caught! Why can't I get away with it this time?
Organize an event that fits the guidelines and requirements and you'll get the badge. Simple as that.

Also, credit should be given to the people who set up this meet & greet for you and did all the preparation work.

I was sorry to hear about this for those of you that came out. truly you all got the most important parts of a good meet. you got to introduce each other to one another, do a little networking & exploring, & eat some burgers. this is why people participated, not for a star.
maybe rescuedmeat thought it was otherwise?
just because ya'all don't get stars doesn't mean this wasn't a great success for the attendees.
we are all looking forward to seeing everyone's pics of this & future explores.

hosting a convention can take a lot time & thought, that's why multiple people are often involved in the planning.
it also helps if the host actually knows the criteria for one.
