| | | This has for a while been one of my favourite Urbex shots... however, every time I look at it, I feel like it's missing something.. rip it apart, tell me waht you think, I need to get to the bottom of this! (not to mention, I can use all the help I can get, towards photography)

| | | All in all I think it's a good shot. If I had to nitpick, I'd say that both the vertical and horizontal perspectives are off a little bit, and it seems to be leaning right ever-so-slightly. A 3 minute job in Photoshop is all it would take to fix those issues. Also, what are you using for sharpening? Have you ever tried the duplicate layer > high pass > blending mode change method? I tried photoshop, apparently my perception of of lines is off... I straightened them based on the grid lines in the lens correction. also, for uploading to flickr, to keep bandwidth low, I resized the image to 1000x667 pixels, duplicate layer, then did a smart sharpen, and an unsharp mask adjustment. I haven't spent enough time working with sharpening, and all that, to get into using high pass, and blending modes also also, I never thought I would see the day, that I would read or hear All in all I think it's a good shot. | come from you. so that alone is an improvement and a milestone for me to be honest *sorry for all the edits. | | | it looks as though you straightened it using the bar at the top and not the ceiling beams. for me the photo just isnt that interesting, if the huge barrier (or whatever that cement thing is) wasnt there and it was a giant long hallway it would be more interesting. The exposure is to my liking,

that "barrier" is a wall of some sort it appears to have been knocked down, but it has the shape of some sort of room when you go up to it

| | | You're probably not gonna get too much input beyond what's already been said, which I agree with. It's a pretty well done shot of a less than epic scene.

| | | The pipe running almost directly through the middle of the frame pretty much kills any sense of movement or depth. Without that it would be a better than average shot, although reshooting or cropping drastically are really your only two options to deal with that. Also you need to work more on the perspective correction, it's a bit off (converging slightly towards the right side of the frame).

| | | This is a prime example of the "lines into infinity" model, with consideration of the spatiality of the ceiling. I would like to see this exaggerated more and less of the floor.

| | | I think this is a great shot (wish I would have taken a similar one while I still could). I was going to mention that it does look like the lines where leaning to the right but upon careful examination, everything leans in different directions. Floor slightly to the left, nearest portion of the ceiling towards the right but farthest towards the left. Don't think there's much that can be done about that unless you start playing with warp transformation. This picture is making me sad... [last edit 2/11/2012 3:15 PM by sQualie - edited 1 times]

Generally when one thing is off it throws everything else out of whack. I always start by making sure whatever is in the center of the frame is straight up and down. Next comes the vertical perspective, and last the horizontal perspective. Usually if it's not perfectly plumb things are going to look fucked. Doesn't help that everything at that particular location is a bit askew either

| | | For me it has flow like a painting would, which is good. I start at the top for my initial point of focus and move down to that wall and it kinda.... kills the flow. Not that there's anything that you could do about it, but I just wish it wasn't there lol. Very good pic overall though

| | | I agree with the lines being ever-so-slightly off, but it's not a bother. Great framing and composition, I really like the lighting and how it changes with the depth. Good lines and keeping it symmetrical.

| | | To me it looks like the wall could be the subject of the photo rather than a distraction, only it's situated a little too far away to get your attention. The pipe hanging down with caution tapes pulls your attention toward that area anyway. When I looked at it in the large size on flickr the image looked more balanced though, and at large print sizes the wall would probably hold its own.
