Yeya21 and I have spend a few weekend exploring this old ordinance depot. Because of the mysterious stuff we keep finding we have decided to call it DHARMA. I don't have as many photos as she does, so hopefully she adds hers *HINT HINT* to this later.

But the first trip we took was rather disappointing because all we found was a slab of elevated concrete. The weather was cold and rainy that day too, rather miserable. Eventually we found the ammunition igloos.

In the igloos we found remains from the 80s and a bunch of barrels and ended up with an unidentified black substance all over our legs from the inside of some of the igloos.

So it begins.

1. Long walks on long paths to find anything

2. One of the more brush covered igloos

3. Take a look

4. Gradually nature is tearing through the concrete

5. Closer

6. Spider <3

7.

8.

9. Shitty graffiti

10. I Mustache you a question

11. Little flare never hurt no one

12.

So we are still not finished examining this beautiful place, I would say we are less than half done. But not only are the structures and contents interesting, the scenery around it is gorgeous.

if that ammo dump is anything like the one "near" me, it should be HUGE!

is there a river nearby? if so you may also find a water treatment plant and close to that the facility that made the ammo that was stored in the bunkers you posted here... just food for thought.

the 2 areas in this pic were the water plant and ammo plant, they are about 5 or 6 miles apart by the highway. the water plant is maybe a mile from the river.

the "white dome" is what the EPA told the clean up crew to cover the site of the ammo mfg areas with after the buildings were torn down. the dome is solid concrete.

inside the red box can be seen roads much like the ones you walk along. this box may cover 5 or 6 miles by 1 mile or more wide.

hidden in the woods are maybe hundreds of bunkers just like the ones in your pics.

during WWII this area was "out in the sticks" mid west MO. Its main product was TNT for bombs. from the air, im sure this area was well hidden at the time given its remote location.

edit: still too big...screw it. deal with the slider thingy.

I have estimated there are about 50-100 of the ammunition igloos. BUT a lot of them are now owned by surrounding businesses and used by them for storage and what not. And yes, there is a river, we are gradually working our way to it. So far we have been to about 20-25 of them.

Sorry I haven't posted pics or the story, I'm not too good at it. lol But I promise to put them up. Hopefully tonight. There's been so much going on that I compeletely forget about it.

You're so not lying about the shitty graffiti that didn't even make sense, lol Beautiful place indeed, surrounded by nature.

Damn Astro, you're really getting under my skin. Mmmmmmm nothing like bunkers and lost ordinance to excite a man.

If you look around you will find more structures probably. WW2, cold war stuff in way cool.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

Yea, we're definitely no where near finished, I think, lol We have more sections to explore. A lot of walking but it helps us exercise, lol It's crazy how many there are. And like Astro mentioned, many of them are being used as storage for companies. One of them was really nice and clean.

I hate "sterile" sites. A metal detector might yield some interesting finds, but be VERY careful if you do. The primers and HE remain viable even after decades.
Use satellite and old maps to try to pinpoint areas of interest. Fun times.

^^ Foliage is found in the woods? Really?

As inept as some things are done, and as much as I love your conspiracy-lurking-in-every-corner thing you've got goin on.. I find it hard to believe that there is NAZIS CHEMICAL WEAPONS just buried out there in the ground.

Buried under my house too. They are everywhere. You should be careful. As a matter of fact, in the neighborhood at Brio where they dozed...you should be careful of the Nazi weapons there too.

WW2 Germany never produced any chemical weapons intended for field use other than in Holocaust shower rooms. The US did though, and who knows where all those went.

The US is responsible for the only chemical warfare casualties of WW2. We wanted to be ready for something the Germans never had, and fell victim to our own mustard gas along with countless civilians.
