Detroit, Engine test and foundry

Figured I would finally post an expedition after actually the weekend I did it.

This plant is only half there. It was originally an aluminium foundry and engine builder and tester for aircraft.

They slowly moved out of aluminium and engine building and moved toward just testing so tore down that part of the building.

I would go into more details but rules and all.

Here you can see where the existing building was 'blocked in' after portions were demoed.

Here is a Pano of all the smaller jet test cells.

The Pyramid style roofs were for radials and props and had vents on the side, the triangular roofs opened like a clam and were for jet engines.

nice find!

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

Thanks for posting, I went here last summer and couldn't figure out what its former purpose was.

reckless thoughts abide; anachronistic and impulsive.

loosely jacketed against the cold and ten thousand worlds for the choosing.
