Before I share my photos, I would just like for everyone to please visit Heinrick's site..

http://jasonryd.com

If it weren't for him, I would not have been able to visit this fantastic location. He was wonderfully generous in sharing several of his findings with me.

Anyways, moving on! This awesome house was a little over a two hour drive from home...which was totally worth it. It's out practically in the middle of nowhere. Smelled TERRIBLE though...definetly would recommend a respirator of some sort, it was really horrid. I'm generally not one for getting freaked out about exploring these places, but while we were there a cherry picker kept circling the house very slowly which made me extremely nervous...as stated before, the place is literally in the middle of nowhere, so I'm not too sure why they were there. I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked (on top of the fact that I could feel the floor bending underneath my heel...), so not too many photos. I just wanted to see the dang green cupboards.

And again, one more time
http://jasonryd.com

^ GO LOOK AT HIS AWESOME STUFF!

1.)
2.)
3.)
4.)
5.) Odd little vacuum-ish thing...not too sure what it is?
6.)

Nice shots , its great to see some actual photography at work where someone puts thought into the pictures they're taking (I can't do it all that well). It woulda made my week to be there with you because the vacuum-looking thingy is actually an electric-powered air compressor, and I really need one of those... so I'm jealous you found it =P. Those old air compressors are great because they last forever, they're built well, they have tons of power, and they use oil to lubricate the moving parts. The oil part is important because some of the oil goes into the compressed air, and while its bad for painting, its good for tools because the oil in the compressed air helps keep the tools lubricated when it flows through them.

Sorry about the little rant on the air compressor, I was just typing my thoughts out loud >.<

Either way, I enjoyed the pics and it seemed like a great day to explore. The house seemed like it was in pretty good shape too which makes me wonder why it smelled. I did take a quick glance at the website posted too, there is a lot of good photography there... plenty of examples to learn from on that site. Nice album though, a beautiful girl in almost every pic and even when there wasn't, you took a shot of some cool old machinery. I like both of those aspects =D

Glad you found it! There are a lot more like this in your area to explore. I miss them.

The barn had a lot of treasures in it, too—I'm guessing you were too short on time to check it out? I left behind a wonderful gilded picture frame in there.

Michigan one of the best places to visit. You can find homes like this all over the place. Just drive around and look. You can tell whats abandoned and whats not. Here is one I found in the UP of Michigan. I've been back a few times and I still find it incredibly interesting.

Gosh, I'm flattered! Thank you!

And it was really only the room with the falling ceiling / insulation that smelled horribly...but man was it bad.

Dangit no we didn't. I even made a comment about it too! The damn truck driving around and around us freaked me out too much to linger. Guess that just gives us incentive to go back. William did find a painting and strange hat / helmet inside the house though.

Hah! I think that may have been things I intended to carry to my car, but, likewise, the passing vehicles required me to travel light.

pipe organ is too beautiful to let hipster girl put her dirty heels on it.

Damn, if I had a truck I'd totally 'rescue' that thing.

Dude, that's an old Victorian parlor reed organ, and a beautiful one at that. Do you have any idea how rare that thing is? And it appears to be in good shape. Does it work by chance? You tell by pumping those pedals at the bottom will produce the sounds through the reeds in the back: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reed_organ . It looks like one of the pedals has come undone, but you can still tell if the pump works by moving the one pedal.

Looks to be mid to late 1800s. Can you tell the brand? That's what I was really trying to figure out, her feet were covering the name.

Either way, you just stumbled across something that should probably be in a museum somewhere, not sitting rotting away in an abandoned house. Hell, I'll buy the house just to save the damn organ .

It was made by George Woods & Co., out of Massachusetts:

And yes, it does play. There's a lot on this property I'd like to make off with, but it's patrolled by nosy neighbors. It would be quite an adventure to get the organ out, even with permission.

Really no need to be so rude. Sorry you don't approve.

Didn't expect people to get their panties so bunched up about a few photos.
