Out of the Darkness

This time I won't show you any pictures, besides the example below.

Out of the Darkness will be an awareness week we will have next semester here at school, and I was asked to provide special pictures for a slide show.

When I was told Out of the Darkness, I replied with Into the Light.

Out of the Darkness is an awareness week that want to help young adults that have the following problems:
They were abused as a child
They abuse alcohol or drugs
They abuse something else

I think this week wants to show them that they are not alone, and there is help out there.

Personally, I meet a handful of students that got abused as a child, and they still need counseling in University, some get it, some are still on the way to find out that they need counseling.

Now what I am looking for.
Confined spaces, was what I was told the pictures should show.

But I think, showing people the light, and an exit would be great too.
I tried the other night to take a picture on campus, and I have to take some more on campus that show you the light and a way out.

So if you have a picture that could fit into this week, please post it.

If you don't have anything positive to say, stay out of it.
I will ask the Mods to delete every posting that is negative in any way.

Thank you.

you will ask the mods to delete a post that is negative in ANY way? do you think this approach will work? damn dude - for a new member you sure have a lot of pull huh? must be nice. how did you get in so good with the mods in less than a month to be able to get 'negative' posts removed from a thread??
not to be negative but i havent the faintest clue what the hell this thread is about or why it is in the south forum or why its on an urban exploration website. and again - not to be negative but this photograph is terrible. i have no idea what the subject is much less the photographer's intent.

I knew of a few students who abused drugs and/or alcohol back in University.

The truth is that it would take more than an Awareness Week to help students with these hurdles. Some just have to hit rock bottom before they can get back up again.

With regards to the Social Sciences programs, you will find that some students enroll due to their own past abuse and now they want to "change the world" and save others.

The key element here is that you need to come to terms with your own addictions or past experiences before you enroll into post-secondary schooling. If you don't, it's going to be difficult to be empathetic and neutral towards an abuse victim if you're still harbouring your own demons.

I've seen students drop out of programs or switch courses, and I recall one young woman basically cheated her way through the entire program as she was too busy binge drinking.

There should be a mandatory year off after high school in order to find yourself and to establish your long-term goals. There are a lot of college/university students who basically just don't know what they want to do, or are still into the partying phase.

The TL/DR portion: post-secondary may involve a lot of social activity associated with drugs/alcohol. If you require counselling, it's best to get it before you commit to a two-to-three year program that will involve dedication and studying.

The idea that your University presents is a good one, but I'm just not sure that these people can be helped until they are ready to be helped.

It will at least keep the people out that think it's funny that children get abused.
Or that teens drink and die on it.
Do you think this is funny?

Where would you ask for pictures of old buildings?
Of abounded buildings?

Maybe right here?

Let me see if I can clarify. This is an unusual post for a site like this, yes. And its not something we'll do very often. But the guy is trying to help with something that his school is doing and they were wondering if UER type photos might help with the campaign. You either have some or not, or want to help or not.

The reason he said the mods will delete negative posts is because we tried this in Main and what should be a good thing ended up full of bullshit jokes that turned a good cause into what Av calls a steaming pile of shit.

I told SuchundFind that if he wanted to post this in the south forum, that I was sure the folks here are ABOVE and better than making fun of something someone is trying to do to raise awareness and help with something he's doing at school.

It's really simple. If you want to help please do. If you don't want to, then just go on to something else and don't tear apart something another person is trying to do.

I'm not going to delete questions or things that add to the discussion, even disagreeing maybe. But do it in an adult way in this thread please. Don't resort to the juvenile shit that I saw from some of the UER members from other areas.

The south forum is better than that!

There are more programs that are not being seen so openly.
There is a mentor program most students might not even know about it.

I know some students need to slam into a concrete wall before they are ready to get help, some only need a little push to get help.

We can't help everybody, but at least we try.

SuchundFind.....I think what you are doing is nobel.

It is as simple as someone who is in trouble (trapped) and needs to find there way out (exit)......as simple as that. I have seen many pictures on UER that would be a good representation of what he is looking for.

I know I took this one basically as a joke, but at the same time it also fits what you are looking for, I think. The end of a tunnel, and a branch offered to help out of the pits.

I was going to contribute this light at the end of a tunnel, but then I realized that there's a guy on a bike in the way. He was so fucking annoying. He wouldn't even move his damn bike. I told him, I said, "Move your fucking bike", and he is all like, "Hellz to the no, man. You are no boss of me." And he was acting all tough and punky and shit on his dinky little shit bike. You know what I did after this photo was taken? I ran his bike over with my bike. Just plowed straight fucking through it like it was nothing. He cried. A lot. Then I made him drink his tears, and he had to walk his broken bike home.

You should have been there, it was really humorous.

How about this one, saying there are multiple ways to see the light?

Also, kudos to you for taking the time to post this thread. It's for a great cause. I know many people who were abused as a child and even some now that they're older.

BTW, I took this one last year. Let me know if it helps.
