Container tunnel

Now today when I did work study, I saw something that looked like the roof of a container, ground level.
So I asked the worker I was with, and he said yes this is a tunnel made of shipping containers. At least 1/4 of a mile long.
I had the chance to go down and take some pictures.
I can't tell you where it is besides it's somewhere in Lubbock.

If someone wants to see this, it could be arranged, but nobody should try to look for it. They have security and you never know when they show up.

Anyway here are the pictures I took.

You can see all the way down.

A little from the side

And with my mini tripod

Lets have a quick look at the entrance

and ones without flash

the light is off and I am in the middle of the tunnel

Someone told me they have problems when it rains

the light at the end of the tunnel

getting back out

sun here we come

and right when I backed out with my car, security came by and didn't ask me hat I am doing, because they know me. Everybody else they would stop and question about trespassing and such.

This tunnel will be used for electrical wiring.
The cable is still above ground and I didn't want too show the location of the tunnel, so I can't show this cable.

I think I will have future access to this location and can update it as soon as the cable goes in.

what is UER coming to when members consider THIS to be urban exploration? dood you UE'd the SHIT out of this place! you live in lubbock and this is what you are 'exploring'? there are so many locations up that way - just do a little bit of research and you will find far more interesting spots than this.

ssssh! quiet. Stop that!
Now the word is out. Everyone will be cargotainering.

weird. Is it concrete encased?
What about water & corrosion? Cargotainers aren't equip with wet sumps.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

Cargotainering!?!?!? Hahahahaha, I love it.

I'm sorry for letting the cat outta the err.... Container but locations this epic simply can't be kept a secret.

I must admit though, this is a pretty ingenious use for these containers

Fun fact: 34 of these containers = 1/4 mile

On the top there is nothing besides dirt.
On the bottom I would say they have concrete and on the sides I hope so.

And no it's not at Frankfort Ave. Didn't even know that there is one as well.

@insulinguy
I went there while I was working. You know, while I was working.
But you might have missed it in my posting.

Only on UER. Coming next, the 911 rescue of kids hurt while cargotainering.

I think they were too cheap to do it right and lay down reinforced concrete or heavy gauge galvanized steel. After about a foot or two, even in the desert you have a lot of moisture. Cargotainers are not designed for this.
It should be interesting to see what kind of mess that tunnel turns into after a couple years, or the first good rain storm.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

i found the same thing speed found - i dont see any large piles of dirt as you say. pics or it didnt happen. and i missed the part of your post where you said you were working because i get extreme tired head reading the text of your posts. so you could have said you built the damn thing yourself and i would have never known it. for your next explore could you find one of those construction tunnels on street level with the scaffolding and 2x4s for a roof?

insulinguy you name should already have told me, you only write to get a higher post count.

why do you even bother if you don't like it.

Maybe you have to much time and want to have a higher post count.
So you only look for postings you can ruin.

Thanks for nothing insulinguy

thats the one man! haha.
im not the least bit concerned with my post count by the way.
clearly, you are, but i couldnt care less about that.
the only point i was trying to make is that lubbock has a metric shit ton of locations in the town itself and if you drive 20 miles in any direction from there you will find some real gems that will interest people outside of the south forum bubble. there are probably 10 schools, some hotels,a bank or two and even an abandoned city hall/courthouse all within an hour or so of lubbock.
i dont know - maybe walking through that prefabricated 'tunnel' was super exciting while it was happening but honestly it doesnt translate that well in your post.
dont internalize everything mate - but also dont expect that every member here will think every thread you put up is super cool or a top secret location because that simply wont happen.
if you really want to have some fun/boost your likelihood of getting your full membership/receive a lot of positive feedback and hi fives then drive up to plainview where you will find the tallest building in town is also the emptiest and very UER thread worthy.

But you know that I post things in the South forum for a reason.
By the way, the hotel gets renovated right now.

If you are not interested in my work, don't look at it.
It's not that I force you to look at my pics nor do you get money to look at them.

So I really don't care if someone from North West middle China is not interested in a container tunnel.

im not going to edit my earlier post. but i will add that containers that are buried are very common in texas. i know of 2 locations. one has 2 buried under a playground beside a long barn in forney. the other is under a mobile home in corrigan. texans are strange people.
