Such a pretty little spider. Should have picked him up and petted him.

Yes I do love spiders, as long as I know what I am dealing with and where.

Very nice shots!

Those guys are completely harmless. They never come inside, nor do they bite.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

Maybe so, but me seeing them is usually a death sentence for them. Nothing good comes from anything that walks on 8 legs, has 8 eyes to see me with, and probably has 8 spider dicks ready to fuck me with.

Straight from the pits of hell. Give me a snake any day. But keep the pretty little garden spiders and all the rest of the arachnid world as far from me as possible.

When you get near their web, they will sometimes vibrate it. Once I got too near, and rather than jump off and roll into a ball, it jumped straight towards my hand from about 4 inches away! It balled it's self, hit my hand then fell to the ground and played dead. Made me jump, lol. Crafty.

Lots of Black widows out here too. They will ball and drop if you alarm them. They are surprisingly predictable. They're a couple I fed and watch. They come out at night, and live in/under picnic tables. Few people realize they are there.

The only one I hate is the Brown Recluse, too many get bite by these, and the bites are pure evil.

I'm not a fan of spiders. Any spider. But I am being a little funny here about it. I don't usually kill garden spiders, though the thought crosses my mind. I know what you mean about them vibrating and shaking their web.

But black widows? I kill any of those I see. Any where, any time. Brown recluse spiders too. I got bit by one of those on vacation in Tennessee a couple years ago. Bit me on the leg. It was nasty, but not as bad as some I've seen.

I didn't even know when it got me. But apparently it was in my bed in the camper.

I had never had a chance to observe the Widows before, but out here they're everywhere. They stay in one spot, and are very shy, not aggressive, or territorial (to humans and animals) at all. These are one of the least likely spiders to bite you.
They also come in different colors which surprised me. All have the orange red hour glass or some variation of it. Nests many times have the smaller male as well, they coexist in the wild.
If outside, no reason to kill them. I've eaten and napped on top of them more than once on picnic tables.

no worries...I think spiders are pretty cool...as long as they are not on me! If they end up on me, they DIE!!!

I'm sure I've been closer to them than I care to think about, picnic tables, etc. But Mr. Sivalls, whether a spider is outside inside or no side, I'm liable to kill him. I am a spider murderer. I have committed spidercide and I'm NOT afraid to do it again.

lol. I've killed more than a few web crawlers, but the Widows are alright. Too many moths in TX anyhow.
About the only way a Widow will bite you is if it's being crushed and has no escape. They drop and ball if at all possible. Their tell tale erratic web warns of their presence although they seldom come out until it's dark. They're fun to watch, clever little spiders.
Keep young kids away from them.
