Six Flags/Jazz Land in NOLA

I was down in New Orleans in August and decided to check out the Six Flags. We decided to go the bold/stupid route and park at the entrance (along with two other cars). After getting into the park, we ran into a group of guys filming a spoken word poetry project, and a couple who grew up going to the park when it was Jazz Land. Everyone we ran into was really friendly. We were in the park for about three hours before we decided to head out. As we hit the exit turnstiles to go across the parking lot we see three cop cars surrounding our little car. So we do the rational thing and run back into the park, run through some tall grass/snake territory, and hop two barbed wire fences to get to the highway. One friend went to go hike back to the car, while me and the other friend hitchhiked to the closest bus station. The friend that went back to the car was lucky enough to come back to an unattended vehicle. Overall the trip was awesome, and I got to fulfill a childhood dream of walking up a roller coaster.

So pictures! Here's my album. http://imgur.com/a/0y9yC#0

Edit: I just made an imgur account so I can do share some of my other explorations. http://imgur.com/a/rbZzo#0

I know this location is played out over and over again, but what I wouldnt give to go there.

The hoping the fence and hitchhiking to the bus depot, that had me crackin up! If anything I would of hopped out and then walked up from the road and just said I was looking at it from the fence line.....

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

The fact this place has been photographed about a million times does not make me any less in love with it. Good job.

It's totally played out, but still really awesome. Running around with a theme park (almost) to yourself is amazing.

The friend that went back to get his car was going to use the "I was just walking along the fence" excuse if they were still waiting for us. He even took some photos from the highway for proof. We got really lucky with the hitchhiking, it's kind of a sketch area but we had 3 cars stop with 15 minutes (I'm a girl so that obviously helped).

Thanks! My favorite picture is pyscho spongebob courtesy of the sun. I wanted to get a better view of the park from the coaster but I was getting yelled at by cautious friends to come down.
