| | Tennessee Brewing Company (Memphis) < on 10/28/2011 6:45 AM >
| | | I went by today, and it is locked up tight. I didn't have the opportunity to get around the whole building to check, but within the main courtyard there appears to be no entry point any longer. A sad day, as I was taking a friend from France, and I'd been in a few times in the last month. Extra sad for me as it was the first building I explored. That said, I'm sure it will be quite easy to get in if one really wants to, given it's relative seclusion/general lack of sight lines. Now I guess it's time to find the Bayou or a way into Sterick. Or somewhere else perhaps. I'll try to grab pictures when I'm next down there (though there's not much new to see). Also, someone may want to update the database as access is much more than gates now. There are metal plates across one main entrance, boards and new locks across the other, boarded windows and they even welded shut the windows/portals on the walls. | | | They had big plans for that place years ago. I saw some of the plans. Shame the economic downturn ruined that for a lot of places downtown. I also worked for a man who's father and grandfather started the place. He looked at my photos and showed me the places he used to play as a child. They had a really hard time during prohibition and he told me the places they used to hide the "goods". I have an interesting article on it I will scan and post over the weekend.

| | | The Bayou was also my first explore but not my favorite. It was a good first one because of the ease of getting in at the. Again the Bayou is the best adventure in memphis and it will never be locked up or hard to get into. UrbanEx Memphis has spent hours and hours in the different segments of the Bayous and still haven't found or seen all of it yet. We have picture of two different segments of the Bayou on our website www.urbanexmemphis.com There is also a link there to a commercial appeal article that was done on Jimmy Ogle the memphis historian that went down to it first and studied the history on it. Its a nice read. He was also on channel 13 news and they did a whole segment with Jimmy Ogle down in the main part of the Bayou. I will see if I can find a link to that video and post it. If you like both history and adventure the Bayou provides both and never risk being locked down. There is always new tunnels to find too. Help us discover the forgotten Memphis.

| | | I need to clear this up about this location. It was NOT shut down because of explorer error it was closed down because it is in the process of being converted into a playhouse.
