| | Hello from central Alberta! < on 10/23/2011 8:46 AM >
| | | Hi all, First post here and I figured I'd put it in this section as it's the area I'm most interested in. I live in Stettler, Alberta with my wife and kids and I found this site while hunting for cool photo shoot locations in my area. I was a little disappointed at first at the 19 Alberta location until discovering I needed to be a full member to access the complete data base. It makes sense to help keep unwanteds from using the info for evil, but I'm really curious now as to how many locations are listed in my area. If there is a lack of cool stuff for this area, I'm sure I could add the few interesting locations I know of. Until then I'll just pass the time by sharing some of the pictures I've been taking. I hope everyone doesn't have a hate on for light painting, but please let me know what you think either way. Also, if there is anyone else in the area, please feel free to hit me up. Cheers, Chris

| | | Hello, and welcome! I live about a half hour away from you,and I believe that there's another member here that lives nearby as well. I've been to the location shown in your first photo, and forgot that I had set it at FM only. There's a fair bit to see around here if you're interested in houses and such (my favourite). Anyway, here's the link to that house and feel free to drop me a line if you're up for exploring. http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=27875

| | | I love your stuff, the constellations and the "Aurora Prairiealis" ones are fantastic! You might be interested in the light painting forum when you become a full member, don't forget to look for that. Welcome to UER.

| | | Plan B, you may be a New B, but your work is obviously awesome. Welcome, and I would vote you get a ten second interview, and then are given membership, which btw as you will soon learn, has it's privileges. (Semi joke) Alberta is awesome, and you may want to contact that talented photo guy from Red Deer. Sorry his name escapes me at this moment.

| | | Wow, thanks for the warm welcome everyone. It sure is appreciated. Wiccan: I kinda figured that house might be in the DB. It's been standing there, just of the highway, in pretty much the same state since I moved to Stettler 16 years ago. I don't know it's history unfortunately, but I bet someone round' here does. Thanks for posting the link for me to check out. I'm totally game to tag along if the opportunity ever arises. Thanks so much for the invite. Just let me know a time and place and I'll be there. Bizz: Thanks for the nice comments and the heads up on the LP forum. It'll probably be the first place I check out after taking a peek at the DB. A.: A green light right outta the gate would be great, but I don't mind waiting if need be. I'm sure most of the places on the DB ain't going anywhere to soon. Although, it might be nice to hit a few new locations before the snow flies. If ya think of that fellers name (or if he reads this) please let me know. I'd defiantly be interested in seeing his photos and maybe a meet up sometime. YW: Well, I'd love to take credit for all the above techniques but to be honest most were picked up from the awesome Light Junkie flickr group. If you have any questions about how the shots are done, ask away. I'd be happy to share what I know. Cheers, Chris

| | | I think the guy is from Rocky Mountain House, not Red Deer. Did a quick look at old threads but don't see his name. Search on here never works for me, am probably doing it wrong though.

I may have to take you up on that offer one day. I've always wanted to try light painting.
Ah Damn it, A. Lien... I know exactly who you're talking about but can't think of his name either. I can clearly see some of his pics in my head. One of him sitting in an armchair, and another is very similar to the first pic Plan B posted. Edit - Furious D. [last edit 10/25/2011 2:02 AM by yellow_wallpaper - edited 2 times]

| | | If he's from Rocky, I'm pretty sure I know the guy you're talking about. I've actually chatted with him briefly on Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/people/opdendries/ I was hoping to maybe tag along with him sometime as it looks like I could learn a lot from him. He really does take some amazing photos. [last edit 10/25/2011 7:12 AM by Plan-B - edited 1 times]

| | | Every once in awhile you stumble across another photographer who when you look at their work you get that sick feeling in your stomach, you pause for a moment stop consider, then you realize it is because you are jelly. Your photo's exhibit great sharp focus, creative composition, and superb use of light. In fact after looking at your photo's I googled how to create the orbs. My advice to you is to not worry about the ue database. It is not half as cool as you think and the majority of sites in it have been demo'd, further to that the theme; the very best sites don't get entered into it. UE (in my humble opinion) is as much about the journey as the destination. Happy hunting and look forward to seeing more of your photo's. | | | Hey, thanks for the nice comments Pork. I'm really glad you liked the photos and as I said, if you have any questions about the techniques used, just let me know and I'll do my best to explain. Did ya take any orb photos since googling how to create them? If so, I wanna see. I hear what you saying about journey vs destination and hunt vs find. The hunt and journey brought me to this site and the cool people who occupy it. Definitely a plus in my book. If there is nothing new in the DB for me to see, it's still time well spent. Oddspot: That is close mate. You'd have to be living in my basement to get much closer. Maybe sometime, you, Wiccan and I could hit up Timmie's here in town for a coffee and then do a little splorin' in the area? If either of you are ever interested , just let me know. Cheers, Chris
