| | | Stink Mine #4 < on 10/7/2011 11:56 PM >
| | | It was brought to my attention that I haven't made a main post in awhile, so here goes. Checked out these drains today with KingJalopy. They were quite extensive, more so than we thought. What they lacked in size, they made up for with multiple sizes and shapes: square shapes, arch's, a twin curved "L" shaped tunnel, and the ever popular round RCP's. Some of them even had drains on top of drains. There is another drain system that is tripple stacked in Tulsa, but you can't capture it like this one. The area they are in is right on top of Tulsa's abandoned coal mines. And they stunk, bad. So the name "Stink Mine" was given. And the "#4" was added to make it seem more legit and/or confusing to any other soul that finds them.
1. An in-fall/outside junction with double stacked drains, much larger than it looks.
2. Side by side curved L tunnels
3.
4.
5.

| | | It looks through the yellow color, that there is a high sulfur content in that water. That would explain the smell. Nice shots.

Good point, but it didn't smell much like sulfur, and actually that particular section didn't smell nearly as bad, most likely because it's near the outfall though. It was the usual nasty ass black shitwater that was stinking it up. Pic of said shit.
Drains, drains, drains, drains, drains. |

| | | I'm lazy, but I got to it. Here's mine.
Fiend, hard at work.
Decided to try the pano route this time.
It was a pretty sweet drain, like Fiend said, what it lacked in size made up for in coolness.
Drains, drains, drains, drains, drains. |

Did he go very far? Find anything? I've been meaning to go back in there and check out the other tunnels.

| | | surd was the one who went up there... apparantly it runs for about 75 or so feet to another, similar room... according to the maps weve got it turns into an rcb at some point and opens up a little... but he didnt go farther than that next junction... another mission is in order...

| | | Posted by Mr_Fiend I see. Well I need to go back then, soon.
|
It seems like it doesn't take long for limestone formations to grow in Texas drains. It's really cool to see cave formations growing in a man-made environment.
