| | | apocalypse man tv show < on 10/1/2011 10:13 PM >
| | | so i watched (missed first half, and its not listed to air again) a show called apocalypse man, a show where a guy goes around showing you what to look for after a societal collapse. pretty cool. he was using abandoned buildings as shelter, hospital for its generator etc. etc. heres the episode. http://www.youtube...atch?v=GyZuvLo4eJA i was trying to figure out where he was the whole time, it was a rather beat up town and industrial park. graffiti everywhere, looked way abandoned. saw a store front name , parks old style bbq, and googled it. found that it it was in Detroit MI! no wonder! during the show the area looked pretty damn abandoned. he went to a gas station to siphon diesel gas with a bike pump. ran into an industrial building for shelter and fire. and ran to an abandoned hospital(i could tell it wasnt used by the crumbling walls and the square old style ) to use the generator and diesel gas he got to charge a car battery.. anyway , has anyone on here maybe been to this area? or maybe know of the area/hospital he may have visited? it was a pretty cool show. hope to see more aired soon.

| | | He forgot to mention that bottle caps would be the new currency. Why would you go to Detroit after the apocalypse...its the one city that would have nothing left because its already experienced the apocalypse.

| | | I love how he mentioned that in the anarchy resulting from Hurricane Katrina, LIBRARIES were one of the few things that weren't looted.
Anyway, yes it's clearly Detroit. In Part 1 where they showed him running on the railroad tracks & then crossing over the small river via the raised bridge, that'd have to be SW Detroit, specifically the W Jefferson Ave Bascule bridge that crosses over the River Rouge (& he was right, you definitely don't want to fall into that liquid!). http://www.histori...g/other/jefferson/ I'm thinking though that they're taking a lot of liberties with the filming locations instead of maintaining good continuity, but I suppose that's OK as they never reveal what city he's in. In fact, I think they try to mask it, as Detroit doesn't have street names or an intersection like "7th & 23rd."

| | | if things hit the fan the last place I want to be is a urban enviorment. I would go south past the freeze line, and try and live out in BFE.

I believe it was called "The Colony" basically these people are whats left of a virus out break they have food and supplies but the items are limited and they must figure out how to obtain more supplies, heres previews from the show, the show is a lot longer then those previews I believe they were an hour long each. http://dsc.discove...ral-awakening.html Season 2 is what is shown in the link above season one was well "ok" there is no season three but season 2 i think is the best, i was mistaken when i thought it took place in mississippi, it actualy takes place at 300-498 Southern Place, Chalmette, Louisiana 70043, i def want to go there some day, not sure if that entire are is deserted but looking at google maps its deserted up to the home depot, which is active.
