Weirdling, 20seven and I visited this after a long trek through some cornfields. We've had our eyes on it for awhile so it was awesome to finally get in there...and find no graffiti to boot!

Turns out both Weirdling's and 20seven's dads worked at this place back in the day. :o

I love finding places that haven't been touched by graffiti! Nice shots... love the lighting on the stairs in 12.

Funny, I had my dad's story wrong. Off by twenty years and a different building. The day after our explore I told him what the building was like and he identified it, apparently he worked there in 1967!

He had always told me the story of 'The Vegetable Ward' which was actually what made him quit. They one day had him feed the brain damaged patients, which meant lining up twenty-some-odd wheelchairs and feeding porridge to people hardly able to move their mouths.

He quit shortly after, it depressed him too much. If I understood him correctly, this was the area of the story he'd told me several times in my life.

Glad you all enjoy them! I was so enthralled that it was so untouched, too.

How in the world does wheelchairs have anything to do with "hiking" around in the maze that is this place?

it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.
