| | | Holy shit, there’s like 1050+ users online. I was wondering what’s the average per day and if this is the first time? Does it slow down the server? Take a look: edit: spelling [last edit 5/21/2004 12:50 AM by Professor Chaos - edited 1 times]

| | | um, typically I've seen it around 50 to 100. This is interesting. edit: with a very quick peek at the online page, it seems that we've been slashdotted. Specifically, the thread announcing the Chernobyl motorcyclist thing to be contrived: http://www.uer.ca/forum_showthread.asp?fid=1&threadid=8951 Now that's a lot of users! You shake my hand, say “pleased to meet you.” Look me in the eye, I don’t believe you. TUI, as long as I’m still alive. I live despite you. Realize I’m not one of your kind, I’m nothing like you. |

Sorry, that's just silly. Imagine how you would have felt if some article was slashdotted on here right before you signed up? You'd have quite the bad taste in your mouth. Av, and other mods: do whatever you want. The furor will be gone in 24 hours.

If they really want to join, they can stick around for a week... and besides, I think this is one of those "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" cases. Tell ya what, I'll send any poor, excluded sob 50 cents and a cookie. [last edit 5/21/2004 1:56 AM by Servo - edited 1 times]

Well, I disagree with your assessment, so we'll have to agree to disagree. I'll PM you my address, and I can be the first you send my 50 c cheque and cookie to.

So things are slowing down a bit from the peak, but not by much. What's to complain about? This is an amazing site, and the world seems to be noticing that. So be it. The odd dick'll probably be signing up as a result, but so will will many more new and cool real UE'ers. To quote the criminal Martha, this is "a good thing", no? And a further development in the good news dept... it looks like Av's servers are passing the robustness test, with flying colours. There's nothing like a good acid test here and there to prove you're doing it right. Let's be friendly and greet the new bretheren with open arms and minds.

| | | Um... Son Of Sam's got this animated avatar happening. Besides being royally annoying, isn't that against some rule or other? If not, there certainly should be one. If you're into stick figures and gruesome deaths, you really should go here: http://www.stickdeath.com/ That Rob guy really slays me.
